9 dead bodies found in the Houston bayous last month
24 total bodies this year
24 total bodies last year

Families are starting to demand answers while the mayor just says that's where dead homeless people get dumped.

Mayor John Whitmire has publicly dismissed talk of a serial killer, calling drownings "not a new phenomenon" at a news briefing last month. He blamed drugs, alcohol and homelessness.
"Unfortunately the homeless, when they pass, often end up in the bayou," he said.

Most deaths are listed as undetermined, which isn't helping.

Wait a minute... there might be legal precedent. Of course! Land-snatching!

I would think it would be hard to determine much of anything from something that has been soaking for a while in the in bayou in the summer.

Have to wonder how many float past Eado and wind up in the depths of the Houston Ship Channel to never be found.

Given the amount of homeless camps in close proximity to the bayous I'm inclined to agree with Whitmire.

If we learned anything from reading Hatchet in grade school, is that if you eat the fish out of the bayou, at this point, you are probably eating the remnants of people too.

Depends on where they went in. It would take a while to make that trip without significant rainfall and runoff.

Remember that young man that went out with friends, disappeared while they were at the club, was seen later in security camera videos stumbling around looking like he was not all there, and eventually found in a bayou down towards the ship channel? I think Delano was his name?

He had been missing for days at that point. Maybe five days?

I still think someone at the club doctored his drink. His "friends" took his BMW that night and didn't report him missing until the next day.

to be honest that would probably be one of the healthier components of bayou fish

Except it's not just homeless people ending up in the bayous.

Now I'm not saying there some serial bayou killer out there but I also don't think Whitmire can just write it off to homeless folks accidentally drowning.

I think it just so happens a flowing bayou a pretty good way to dispose of a dead body and it just so happens that we have a lot of those here.

Significant runoff? Do you understand that Every sewage treatment plant from Eado all the way to Katy drains into that Bayou/ Ship Channel? Both sides of the bayou and all the other bayous that dump into Buffalo Bayou.

That is significant runoff and what makes Houston Great!!!

Whitmire's deal seems to be to get dismissive about things he just doesn't want to deal with.
