IMO there's absolutely no reason for non citizens to be working for the govt. Its actually kind of important. I know universal services has been talked about on here several times, does anyone have any experience with them lately?

NEW: you thought civil service jobs were safe from the Indian invasion? Think again. The civil service of Harris County, Texas (home of Houston) is being taken over by Indian H-1Bs.

According to a whistleblower, Harris County's IT department, dubbed Universal Services, is now under Indian control. It followed the same pattern as everywhere else: an Indian gets in charge, then he starts firing/laying off/driving off all the non-Indian employees and replacing them with H-1B cronies.

Harris County's IT department is responsible for everything from law enforcement to flood control, and it's now entirely run by Indians. To partially disguise this, Universal Services outsources a considerable amount of its workload to contractors, likely getting big kickbacks for doing so.

The Indians who seized control of Harris County's vital infrastructure are Sindhu Menon and Girish Ramachandran. According to the whistleblower, their credentials are fake and inflated and before coming to Houston, they ran a similar scam in the city of Dallas. Menon is involved with the Greater Houston Nair Service Society, an advocacy group for the Nair, an Indian subgroup from southern Indian, and she typically hires exclusively from this group.

Harris County's emergency infrastructure is now in the hands of incompetent, lying, scheming Indian H-1Bs. The next time there's a serious flood or some other catastrophe, it wouldn't surprise me if they screw everything up and people die. And of course, they also have access to sensitive private information of citizens and are doing god knows what with it.

Harris County residents should demand that the county government fire these incompetent Indians, who cheated their way into their jobs, and hire IT professionals who can actually safeguard the county's citizens

Maybe that is the hairless area? It did say that the Nair area is down south.

I've got an Indian relative via marriage.

He said there is a LOT of resume exaggeration among so many people from India that apply to work here.

He had to take an ethics class when he was doing his Masters at A&M and it was geared towards international students. They were told flat out "you cannot cheat to make grades here like you did back home", and a lot of his classmates were terrified.

It would not surprise me if a bunch of people in this group have padded resumes based on no real experience or education, based on what this relative shared.

So...anyone want to know who's running the Engineering Department?

Not Indian..but adjacent. They've also had massive turnover of staff.

Ramsey has brought up in court the issue of massive outsourcing that is a drain on the budget.

Yep.. City of Houston stopped sponsorship a few years ago and now they're more devoid of talent than I've seen in 25 years and have to outsource to private sector more which costs more money. There's a reason most citizens don't work for local government. Low pay and too much bureaucracy. It would be nice if we could staff up with citizens but haven't seen that capability in 25 years.

I saw that some of the Harris County IT salaries are 400K. Surely they could find locals that wanted to make that kind of cash. I thought H1Bs were to save employers big bucks. 400K is saving $??? LOL

Even the staff augmentation to support the Office of the County Engineer fall in that category.

Sounds good in theory. I looked up the person first mentioned and she's been a career civil servant. From Canada to College Station before the County job. It takes a certain kinda person to want to work in the public sector... even for $400K and hiring someone who has never done it and doesn't know how to navigate the nature of a public sector job doesn't usually work. The problem isn't the $400K. Its the entry-level to mid-level that public sector can't seem to hire or retain due to bureacracy. I've seen it over 25 years. I don't see it changing now. The reason so many H1Bs end up in public sector is private won't hire them but public sector gets desperate to hire rather than outsource and pay the premium. That's where the devoid talent is. At the low level, not running the organization. And if you don't start talent building a resume in public sector, its gonna be hard to find people who want to work there later in their career.

so only Indian people lie on their resumes? interesting.

I've never met an IT person of any race or sex that was fully truthful in that field, frankly.
