My 2 year contract is finally up next month. Time to find a new plan. Has anyone had any luck recently getting below 12c/kWh? I have been at 10.2 the last two years so a 20% increase is going to suck.

I locked in a 3 month plan with Constellation (10 cents). I figured even then I could be at 16cents and still come out ahead of the 12 month plans.

Thigbe got us into a .071 rate for 18 months about 4 months ago.
PRC (opinion firm) is looking for some people to dish on their electric companies (especially Green Mountain and Champion customers). Pays $125 for an hour of your time the evening of Oct 8 or 9. I have done one of these before and they are legit.

Just renewed Thigbe at 7.4c.
Not too impressed with Thigbe. They locked me into an 8.3 contract for 3 years.
Yes, Thigbe can lick my taint. They locked me into a 2-year contract in May of '24 (along with several other posters I believe). At this point, it's on me as I haven't taken the time to dump them, but I will be soon.
ETA: I got locked into 10.3 with a $250 cancellation fee. Now I have to do the math and see if my failure to terminate that contract last fall/winter will make it not worth my while to terminate it now.

We're just talking about the "energy rate", which is all the wholesalers have control over.

id lock in 3 years now if you can, demand is going through the roof in Texas putting pressure on prices. Also, pretty much every TDU increases their prices quarterly

All in, my rate puts me at 16.87
I was told by one provider that the latest CPL increase just kicked in, which in turn increased everyone's total rate.
That said, using the texas power guide, there are 2 companies offering 8 month contracts at .118/kwh all in.
My current contract ends in 2 weeks and like one other poster, I'm going to play the short game with an 8 month contract and see what happens from there.

So on Texas Power Guide's spreadsheet, the "Total Avg/kWh" column is the "all in" price with the TDU charges factored in, correct?
I believe so. When I pulled up one of the plans with the .118 and looked at the facts sheet, the energy charge was something like .057 per kwh and the CPL charges were added to that rate to get the total.

Locking in the cheapest 3 year plan is the way to go. Data centers are only going to jack rates up further. In the unlikely event that rates drop you can always pay the cancellation fee. Think of it as a relatively inexpensive option.
I'm still paying for energy ogre, but I really think they gave up on doing any actual work.

I have had Texas Power Agents for a few years, but I am going to cancel them before my next renewal. They are doing the same thing Energy Ogre did and locking me into year-long contracts. Maybe they are getting me the best price, but I don't feel like it is worth paying someone to shop for rates once a year when I could do it myself for free.

I've been on the TXU Market Edge plan forever. Every now and then I do the math to see what my average rate is over a year, and it has always ended up below or at least competitive with contract plans from other providers.

Thigbe has been ok but still skeptical and some of these short term contracts are sketchy.

Just looked at mine again. The "best" rate that EO could get me was a 6 month contract at 16.6@500, 16.2@1000, 15.9@2000. It's not as bad as some on here but definitely wish I had the throwing up icon.

The electric rate is .0700, the rest is delivery and taxes.
Thigbe has been good for me, but timing is everything, I've never had a renewal time where the costs were really high.

Yeah I learned my lesson with Thigbe and will only do it myself moving forward
