Yep, this is the biggest regular season series I can remember during this 9 year run, mainly because the Astros have had the division locked down most years.
And the race is so tight this year...
Currently:
- 2 games back of a first round bye.
- 1 game back of division lead.
- 1 game ahead of last WC slot.
- 2 games ahead of missing the playoffs.
Tiebreakers:
Win Tiebreakers: Blue Jays and Rangers
Lose Tiebreakers: Guardians, Red Sox, Tigers
TBD: Mariners and Yankees

Was it last year or the year before when we had a similar setup and completely crapped the bed against Seattle, but somehow still backed our way into winning the division? This feels similar.
This is a big series, but I still think we have it all out there for us..especially the last series.
Seattle has to play the Dodgers...and if San Diego keeps it close, the Dodgers will still have something they are playing for.
We play our last two series against teams that are already eliminated from the playoffs....IF we can take care of business with them. BIG if.

Man, unfortunately I see this the exact opposite way. We have to win 2/3 here against Seattle and even then it will be tight, but we'd be 1 game up and have tiebreaker.
The Mariners have a great shot of going 5-1 or 6-0 in final 6 games at home.
- They are a great home team (48-27)
- First opponent: Rockies, by far the worst team in baseball and 18-57 on the road.
- Second opponent: Dodgers, currently 3 game lead and tiebreaker over Padres. If they just match the Padres record in next 6 games then the Dodgers can shut it down for all three games against the Mariners.
These final 6 are also on the road where the Astros are 38-37. So a 3-3 record in final 6 would be the average expectation here.
So in my opinion we have to take 2/3 from Seattle at minimum.

4-2 should be the bar for the last 6. If you can't do at least that, you really have no shot in the playoffs anyway. I know anything can happen in the playoffs, but losing a series this late to either of those teams is just terrible. The playoffs are generally about the hottest team at that moment. Losing to the Pathetics or the California Angels of Anaheim or Las Angeles or Orange County is not something a hot team would do.

Division race is over (Astros have dropped from >50% chance to win division to 8% now per fangraphs). It was necessary to take 2/3 but the Astros bats have completely failed at the worst possible time.
