I'd imagine it is a part of "girl boss" syndrome. These women want to be in spots of power and they are easily able to manipulate the boys. Sad really.

I went to JV back when it was the newer of the 2 HS in CFISD. Back then the male math teacher who taught the calculus class left at the end of the year with some senior. Left his wife and kids for her.

This has been going on forever. It's just more visible because of the interweb.

There's also more interest in putting a stop to it. Used to be the perp would quietly be asked to leave to prevent embarrassment to the school district. With no record of what happened, the abuser would start again at the new school.

I mean, a huge portion of regular news consumers today ARE in or near their 80s. They won't remember the change even if they read about it the day before.

But once a reference like that goes into one of the main-use style guides, it stays that way until a new edition makes a change.
