This was back in the 80s to early 90s. I went to Love and War Plano for a show and got talking about some of the older music scenes in the metroplex.

I don't remember much other than being infatuated with the bassist from another band performing. She had long blonde hair and a Michael Irwin jersey on. She was pretty dang good too.

This reads like a "Missed Connections" personal ad in the back pages of the Observer.

Michael Irwin? Is that the football player/animal adventurer that sniffed a bunch of booger sugar and was impaled by a stingray in the heart only to give him an uncanny ability to announce school closings, do more booger sugar, and root on the Miami Hurricanes? That Michael Irwin?

Was eating lunch in Addison today... stack of Observers inside that restaurant.

That rag is barely hanging on.

It cannot be more than 16-20 total pages ... little to no in-depth "investigative" reporting (like from Jim Schultz (sp?)) ... most info. are little snips of D/FW politics and pieces on arts and entertainment and new restaurant mentions... and a page or two in "adult entertainment ads).

Going all on-line cannot be far away.

They constantly beg for money on social media. Its their own fault as they have some serious TDS and hate Republicans.

It was always left wing but man it was entertaining.

That Jim Schulz guy would occasionally do some great investigative reporting. I think he was one of the pests on the absolutely idiotic Trinity Tollroad that finally got killed.

Believe I saw Schultz's name on a book recently... cannot remember if it was a work of fiction or non-fiction.

He was great in exposing the shenanigans going round in Dallas City Hall/Dallas Co. ... he'd have a field day with the Dallas Wings practice facility, Dallas City Hall I.M. Pei bldg., and the Mavericks/Stars/AAC dust-up.

Don't go away mad Dallas Observer... just go away... to the ether.
