For those Ags in the community, keep your eyes and ears open to the nefarious back door transplant takeover we're watching happen to our small community.

2 incumbents recently withdrew and the new challengers are now unopposed and no election will be held.

If you're supportive of the district and how/why it has continued to be one of the top ones in the state even with insane rapid growth, you should be questioning why longtime, pillars of that leadership are disappearing in the middle of the night.

I saw these announcements the other day and certainly raised an eyebrow - do you have more detail or speculation as to what is happening in the background?

For fear of being doxxed, because that's part of what's happening, PM me.

Let's clarify a couple things- Prosper is a "top" school district because of the smart affluent people that chose to move there and procreated new smart kids with generally good home lives. It has very little to do with the school board or school leadership. I would argue that Drew Watkins was shady as heck and the district actually got lucky when he was forced to retire. I lived in Prosper for 6 years and would not consider working there or put my kids in PISD while he was in charge.

Ferguson seems better, but she was a witness to his shenanigans and just kept quiet.

Prosper is no different than Richardson 40 years ago, Plano 30 years ago, Frisco 15 years ago, and Celina will be in 10 years. Although, Celina definitely has the potential to screw up that trend and be a new and improved dysfunctional Allen.

The only real decision the school board is involved in is hiring the superintendent. They pretend to be involved in a lot of things, but they generally just defer to the staff suggestions. Or, if the staff lacks the gumption to make a decision then they pawn it off on the board.

Just my 2 cents.

This situation looks slimy as all get out. Clearly a contractor (Kiwi Authers) is trying to muscle on to the board and fleece the district for hugely profitable construction contracts.

Yeah.. all for the sake of "transparency".

The whole "Pogue is getting rich off tax payer dollars and someone is getting kickbacks" is fan fiction.

The bids for all school projects are Open Bids. Everyone gets to bid and the lowest bidder wins (pretty much like the government except no minority owned, women owned special situations).

People don't realize that Pogue wins these because they've built the same school in Prosper 10x times. Other contractors try to get in but they can't do it.

If Pogue doesn't do the new ones (and there won't be that many more schools built in Prosper anyways), you'll see this was part of it.

you've always had a negative view on Prosper and I respect that - at least you're consistent.

As someone who's lived here for 40 years, what the admin has done to keep one of, if not the fastest growing districts in the state on its trajectory is pretty impressive. Still has a "small town feel" with 35k kids in the district.

And you understand what's key - the board hires the superintendent and approves the budget - that's really it.

But often times (now), you've got board members thinking they're congressmen and can create policy, run on partisan platforms and turn it into a zoo.

Yeah, no idea why people would think a company founded by someone sent to prison for financial crimes and currently run by that person's son would commit financial crimes.

Authers is cut from the same cloth (came from Pogue).

This is the fictional part. Cmar contracts allow for all sorts of funny business and definitely are not the typical "lowest bidder" method most laypeople are going to think of when they hear that phrase.

they paid to have an auditor find the dirty money... and guess what? Nothing - I guess we just keep the witch hunt going.

Out of curiosity, are you not a fan of Dena Dixon or Tommy Van Wolfe or are you more opposed to the way they got their seats?

Fan of both. Got their seat by votes. Not a fan of what's going on/went on that led to them dropping out.

Shady AF they both dropped out. I'd love to know why. Common sense says some shenanigans involved.
