Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent apartment complex near the TI Forest Lane office? I am trying to help my son find one for a summer internship. I am looking for something reasonable that isn't a run down dump and is safe. General areas to stay away from in that 75/635 area would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Generally speaking, there are very few decent apartments immediately nearby. Avoid anything east of there along 635; the area around Forest/Audelia/Skillman actually ranked as the most dangerous neighborhood in Dallas a few years back. Likewise, the apartments to the northwest of the 75/635 interchange (locally known as the High Five) are similarly sketchy (before you cross into Richardson). You best bets are further north along 75 in Richardson (stay north of Spring Valley/Centennial), further south along 75, or potentially some of the complexes around the Costco on Churchill Way nearby. If your son is willing to drive 10-15 mins or so, the Village Apartments bounded by Lovers/Northwest Highway/Greenville/Skillman are great (and are a popular young hangout spot), though I'm not sure if they offer short term leases. On the other hand, avoid anything directly north of Northwest Highway and east of Greenville; that neighborhood is known as Vickery Meadow and is also known for crime/safety issues, along with very run down apartments.

Not to derail, but what does TI do these days?

Look at the area around UTD and try to find someone sub-leasing for the summer. Most leases for students start in August and there are usually people looking to sublet over the summer when they aren't there.

In Dallas proper, this no longer exists.

The Village is great location, but you might have a hard time finding a 3~ month lease for the summer. I have a back house furnished apt in the lower greenville area. map says 17 minutes to TI going against traffic on 75. Cool, safe area with walkable bars/restaraunts etc. Do not usually rent it out but would consider for something like this.

This is by far the best thing you will find.

Great area and can take a few back roads to TI that would be nice if there is wreck on 75.

I work near that area. Real sketchy area. Just find a nicer area. It will be worth the longer commute.

Probably your best bet. We lived in The Village for a few years after A&M and really loved our time there - this was before the major renovations and mall or whatever they have now.

Greenville area is a great area for younger folks.

Same. Lived there 4 years back from 2013-2016. Great place for young professionals. Our old apartment backed up to the old country club and pool. Perfect location.

The Village is definitely young professonals but I've heard of The Haven doing some short term rentals in Lake Highlands.
