Through CAP?

If not, it wasn't a STEM major.

Wife and I are Class of '89. We were out of Texas for 32 years because of the Army, a DoD contracting job, and the kids finishing High School. We wanted to move back to Texas and we didn't want to live in the hustle and bustle of a big city and after deciding on 30 places we didn't want to live we said why not come here as A&M would give us a chance to catch up on the 32 years away as friends passed through town. None of my Corps buddies have moved back, but 2 of my 5th year buddies are living here so it was a good decision.
I can't speak for the schools because we didn't use them.
Cost of living is good compared to other locations and the university provides a good spectrum of jobs as well as research dollars to the area.

Dining is not like it is in Dallas/Ft Worth/Houston/Austin/San Antonio but lord it is much better than the midwest where we came from last.
We plan to die here.

Did not enjoy living in B/CS for 3-4 years, but always love coming back to visit.
