Apparently there is no RELLIS show this year. Where is everyone going for fireworks? We have been going to the RELLIS show for years

9dag:

That is last year's advertisement. Last year was the "6th annual". No RELLIS this year.

The only large-ish show in the area is CS Wolf Pen but it will not be able to handle the crowd from RELLIS. Austin and Houston has some big 250th celebrations planned. I am going to take the family to the hill country.

The 250th birthday of the USA seems to be flying under the radar compared to the Bicentennial way back in 1976.

Why is there no show at RELLIS this year? Did the new chancellor axe it?

Maybe it's moving back to the George Bush Library?

We stopped going to Rellis because people would get in their cars half way through the fireworks and start trying to leave. It was so dangerous.

My family is getting out of the hill country for the fourth this year, it's going to be a ****show over there anywhere close to the Guadalupe I imagine.

The old fireworks that used to be at the George Bush Library were donated by the Lions Club, GB Library, etc. In 2020 that show was canceled due to COVID/funding. It did not "move" to Rellis. In 2020 the TAMU System, CoB, Blinn, etc. were nice enough to provide the community with a fireworks show during COVID and it continued for the years after. I can't imagine that Blinn/CoB would be interested in sponsoring a show at the GB Library.

I was grateful for the fireworks at Rellis and never saw traffic worse than any football game at Kyle. It was free and my family enjoyed it. I don't blame whoever canceled it. It seems that all people did was complain about traffic, parking, etc.

We enjoyed the one year we went to Wolf Pen, but if the Rellis crowd goes, it will be like fitting Kyle Field into Consol's stadium.

Well in 50 years you can hopefully enjoy an above the radar 300th anniversary.

I know it's likely far too late to really fund and plan anything, but I would've loved to see the big 250 as the perfect opportunity to bring back the old Bush Library celebration. I remember spending the entire day out there, trying different food stands, seeing the hot air balloon, playing washers in the grass.
As someone who wasn't alive for the 200th independence day, I would've loved to relive those memories for this big year

The Bush Library 4th celebrations were great. Made all the more so that a president who served and was a war hero and a true patriot had his name associated with it. Loved the fireworks displays.

The Bicentennial was awesome. Parades in every small town; red, white, and blue everywhere. My hometown even painted all of the fire hydrants in patriotic themes. My family went to the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus, and the theme was the Bicentennial. You couldn't get away from it. It made quite an impression on a 7 year old me.

I remember thinking I would be alive for the 250th birthday (because when you're 7, you're immortal). And here I am. But so far, it's not as big of a thing. Or, I'm 57 instead of 7. One or the other.

Portland, TX painted the fire hydrants to look like Presidents.
