This place is growing faster than many thought it would. Delaying expansion - even toll or HOV lanes - will obviously cost even more in the future. Price won't be going down. Get ready for an east loop.

214 has been in the planning stages for several years.

Adding just one lane in each direction will not do much to relieve the overcrowding. Two lanes would have been much more intelligent. Then the east loop would not have been an issue.

So....have you looked at the plans or just heard what was being said and reported?

There are much more than just 3 lanes in each direction for most of the area being upgraded. Every on-ramp and exit-ramp has a full lane that is being used to merge...so that makes 4 lanes right there. At some points on the plans there are 12 lanes across with all of the extra lanes on the frontage roads and the middle lanes (between frontage road and main lanes)

There are 3 through lanes for the entire length. And a whole lot of auxiliary lanes, so to say there are only 3 lanes in each direction is misleading

Edit: I responded before I saw all of the other well though-out responses.

Thank you for the numbers that only mean something for the current situation.

I'm no expert, but it seems like it would make sense to go ahead and expand 6 to 4 lanes in both directions, as long as they are expanding. It looks like it will need to be 4 lanes within the next 10 years, anyway.

Not excited about the diamond intersection at 6 and University. The one at 2818 and University can be a real pain if you get behind or next to people who don't know what they are doing or which lane they need to be in.

I really don't get why these give people so much trouble. It's not rocket science to drive one.

Why do traffic circles give people such fits? Fact is, many people just don't know what they are doing behind the wheel and have no problem inconveniencing others when they discover they are in the wrong lane.

Seriously. Why would you be against something that allows you to avoid stopping at a stop sign or red light MOST of the time? I mean, if you're in an eighteen wheeler or a bus on WJB I get it, those things are dumb, but small roundabouts on more lightly travelled streets are awesome.

Things look to be moving right along! Concrete barriers are in place along much of the feeder road. I suspect this means main traffic will be moved to the feeder roads soon.

I went through the Longmire & Eagle roundabout yesterday. Cars approached from each direction at the same time. All of us just kept moving. It was glorious.
