Are you sure about that? Every conference will want a prime time game, so who or what is the mediator to help resolve differences between the conferences?

The 7-10 and 8-9 match ups most likely get the prime time spots bc those will be the best games.

6-11 most likely gets 11:00 Saturday game if Oregon ends up the 5 seed bc they don't want that game kicking off 9:00AM local. So 5-12 matchup probably gets afternoon Saturday slot.

I agree this makes sense. But who makes these decisions?

ESPN?

The CFP and ESPN. The NCAA has never had anything to do with the bowls or playoffs.

Above, you said the playoffs were completely controlled by the conferences. Do the power conferences make up the CFP "entity"?

My wife was asking these questions the last few days and I realized I don't know who controls the CFP. Other than ESPN. But ESPN does not have a tv contract with the Big 10, so have these conferences formed a business model that runs the CFP?

ESPN owns all the playoff games. They subbed a few out to tnt and tru tv. Or technically i guess Disney owns the tv rights

It really isn't as hard as you are trying to make it.

CFP Administration, LLC is the entity that manages the College Football Playoff (CFP) and its operations. It is owned by the major Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conferences (like the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, etc.) and Notre Dame. It's responsible for the organization, execution, and selection committee process for the CFP, including the National Championship game, with its headquarters in Irving, Texas.

ESPN (Disney) owns the TV rights.

CFP Administration also collects all the revenue (ticket sales and TV rights) and distributes to the conferences per the agreed upon formula.

The NCAA has nothing to do with it.

Yes, it grew out of the BCS organization, but all the conference commissioners control it and there is a board consisting of presidents from a school from each conference that make the big decisions, then the selection committee does the rankings.

The locals need to pull in some cash to hire somebody to take out CAA and Jimmy Sexton for a steak. Then take him swimming with the fishes in the Brazos. Jimmy Sexton and a pool of agents own college football, espn, etc.

Miami @ Texas A&M Dec 20th 11am CST.

This is good for local businesses because most people won't tailgate that much.
They'll drink at the game and then head to the bars to watch the other 2 games and NFL football.
Should be lots of cash locally.
This will be as big as the Texas game last year.
Record crowd.

Man i hope you're right. For us at The Backyard at least, it will depend on weather as 17,000 of our 24,000 sq ft are outside. But, our Jumbotron is also out there.. 11am games are usually the slowest of the three times, but this is an unprecedented anomaly.

The Texas game last year was a one day record, but not a week record due to Thanksgiving. Week record was a bama game of course.

Win-win for BCS.

Eloquent testimony to the economic power of tourism, specifically sports & entertainment tourism, and how it can benefit a community. ;-)

Just imagine if there was a major act concert scheduled the night before, or after.

Lol no sir. I was plugging something else, from a venue perspective. This is a new era for our community. Not our grandpa's Aggieland. The sky is the limit for our potential. We need to think big. My $.02
