I don't know what part of the $55M is the overhead crosswalk, but I would have voted against it and voted to purchase a few dozen golf umbrellas to have available at each exit door,

They built one of these in Lubbock County, to connect the courthouse to a building across the street the county bought.
Waste of money. And I had to go to both buildings often, and would utilize the skybridge.

I know but I don't recall that being listed as a consideration for the project. Being proactive is good. I'm unaware if it's addressing a known issue.

I am not against it, just it was put in place to transfer the county staff, lawyers, judges and yes, prisoners between buildings.
Really we can blame the medians. The median was put in and the light taken out at the street in front of the courthouse, making crossing Texas more risky crossing at WJB.

I think you could build a pretty nice crosswalk with automatic signaling and all that would cost far less than the $6 million or so that the sky bridge will cost.

With TXDOT approval, if they would give it. That dang Hwy 6 (and the medians) causes problems.
I would prefer a skybridge over University Dr, next to campus. That walkway bridge would be used a lot more often every day. Just sayin
They have a half a billion plan for a park and pedestrian crossing there.
