The term "shootout" isn't very accurate here. He was in loss prevention, someone he stopped pulled a gun and shot at him, and he was able to take the gun away from the would be thief and murderer. Said scumbag then produced a knife, which is when Dustin shot.
At least that's my understanding. It sounds like he did a commendable job of defending himself and did the community a favor.

I have several in my family and they are ok with the phraseology. None of them own bars though.
Rusty says 24 hr a day. So always open. Never closed. No opening hours too.

I don't think you are missing anything. I got my first experience when I lived in Michigan and couldn't figure out what all the talk was about. The family didn't like the donuts and the coffee was no better than any gas station.
People seem to go all goo goo eyed whenever something they've heard is somewhere else comes here- quality doesn't seem to matter.
I've always enjoyed them in Canada. And I do like their keurig ones quite a lot. Def better than gas station coffee (which itself has improved a LOT since my early road tripping days).

That seems like a really long time between a soft opening and a real opening. I get waiting until the students are back, but then do your soft launch in early January.

I don't think a company the size of Tim Horton's will deviate from SOP to accommodate for TAMU graduation. They likely don't give two chitz about it.

Weirdly the place seems super over-staffed. There must have been twenty folks behind the counter and it seemed chaotic.
All this confusion is clearly a result of the Oracle of Yelp no longer being here to FIRST TO REVIEW and inform of an opening. Rusty just doesn't have the same skill sets.
