I'm having a hard time finding "old school" galvanized farm gates.

I really don't want tube gates. Do they not sell these anymore?

Our Lowe's here in the Ozarks still sells them but they have really become expensive.
I use a galvanized " bull gate" now. Heavy as heck but is round pipe….but holds up better than the old panel gates.

ETA: Just FYI…Farmaster used to be the brand name on those panel gates.

Where's "down here"? I'm in East Texas and all I can find is tube gates.

Havnt seen those in years over here in San Antonio. But I have been collecting them from housing developments. When I'm on the road if I see a gate like that in a new housing development that is under construction, I swing in and ask whatever laborer is there if I can take it and they usually say "jess…is ok." Sometimes I have to bust out the "necessitas esto? Puedo tomar?" Or whatever horrible Spanish I have and they don't care.

Whip out my tools, dismount it, and toss it in my bed for later use. Eventually they destroy them and toss them when they finish the neighborhood. Lots of these are around and many old farms and ranches have been sold to developers so you can just pick them up.

Yep. They used to be inexpensive for what they were so I bought them back in the late 90's. Our horses would put their hooves on the bottom rail and that would be it....all bent to hell. When I bought the ranch in the Ozarks the old owner had three of them in the pasture. They all looked like some type of pop art as they were all bent up. Those are the ones I just hauled to the scrap yard.

FarmMaster. I have sold them to gardeners for climbing vine, etc support.

We used to use a similar gate even more old school all the horizontals were wood and the bracing was the galvanized metal. They were great and lasted forever just replace the damaged boards. My guess is they didn't sell many replacement gates can't have that anymore.

I also think they made this gate in a couple different gauges. The light gauge was almost worthless the heavy gauge could take a beating and was still light. Seems like from memory the heavy gauge was a darker color and not as shiny like the one in the picture.

South of Houston along the coast.

As others have said - they really aren't all that great for gates. The tube gates, especially ones made from heavier wall tubing and not the paper thin crap you get from TSC, are way better.

Lifetime was the brand. Popular for years. Don't know if they are even in business.

We have at least 1 15' (?) on our property in Franklin county we might be willing to sell. I've been wanting to replace it with a pipe gate for a while. Definitely not my favorite style of gate.

On a new hill country hunting lease 10 years ago I offered to fix/ replace dragging gates and gate posts. The elderly rancher okayed shimming/ adjusting the hangars/ hinges but didn't want to change out what grandpa had installed 50 years prior. So they are still a pita today.

Lifetime Gate Company, Hwy 317, Temple Texas. They went out of business many years ago, and I used to pass their old location on the way to the ranchito.
