I know this is super, super late notice. I only signed up for it late last week when I saw there were still slots and my schedule for the weekend was surprisingly free of baseball and other commitments.

Joe Dawson of Veles Industries is hosting a Scoped Carbine class this Friday and Saturday (April 17/18) at Freestone Shooting Complex (southeast of DFW, northwest of Waco).

Joe spent 14 years as a SEAL, including 3 years leading their sniper school. He's also a big competition shooter, including PRS, USPSA, etc.

The Scoped Carbine Training Course is a follow up training course designed for the student who has had an intermediate level formalized rifle training looking to expand their understanding of magnified optics. This course focuses on the use of semi-automatic carbines with Low Power Variable Optics (LPVO's) or other variable power optics. We will continue to add to your skills foundation which will enable you to continue improving your skills with advanced training or self guided practice.

For those of us who shoot Run and Gun, I think this is an outstanding opportunity to learn how to better navigate the "long range" stages those matches love to throw in to trip up guys like me who came up shooting pistol and would be perfectly happy if every stage was a hoser at 50 yards and in.

As of right now, there are 7 slots still available for the class. I'd love for anyone to come join and help fill up the class so he continues to come train out here in Texas, he doesn't make it this way too often.

You do need to have taken some kind of carbine class before, have a scoped rifle equipped with a sling and bipod capable of holding 1.5 moa or better, and 450 rounds of match ammo. Full prereqs and equipment list in the class description above.

Let me know if you have any questions! Hope someone can come join.

Morning bump in case anyone missed it.

Supposed to be a great range, we might get to do some fun stuff like shoot movers at distance….and a small class means lots of extra instruction/range time
