Just seeing what people think about the Tri and Quad Fold bed covers? I had a Gator brand on my truck that I just traded in, it leaked a little water when it rained, other than that it worked fine.

Does anyone know which brands may be a little more "water tight"... also one that "locks" or can't be opened when its closed.

Really just looking into the folding bed covers. I have a GMC 2500 truck

I had the gator tri fold and it was 10x better than my roll n lock, which is crazy because they are a third of the price. The pro for the roll n lock was it could be locked, even if it was flimsy. If money was no object I think I'd do Diamondback or peragon just so you can put stuff on top of the truck bed for additional storage space like coolers, bikes, etc.

I agree, I had the Roll N Lock one before, not a big fan of it. The cheaper Gator folding was better. looked at Paragons, pretty expensive, dont need that one

I have a BakFlip and it works like a charm. It doesn't leak a drop.

After doing a little more digging, it seems the BakFlip may be the answer.. there are definitely brands that are lower and some higher in price but this BAkflip seems about in the middle with great performance based on reviews

My Bakflip definitely leaks a little and it's degrading some over time. But I've had it for like 10 years. Overall I'm happy with it.

I have two Lomax urethane tri folds on F150s (one 2013 and one 2015). Bought them in 2021 and 2022 (since I was so happy with one on mine I got one for my wife's truck) and would highly recommend. They're about 90% waterproof; on a big storm some will drip in on the corners but not much, and otherwise is good with rain. Luke used to be the best price anywhere, so if interested see if he's still an option.

Second the Lomax and Luke at truck alterations. I haven't noticed any leaking on mine though. Would recommend to anyone.

I have the Bakflip also. Aluminum panels. They do dent EASILY. Even small hail that your truck shrugs off, will dent those panels.

And don't slam the panel over the tailgate - found out the hard way after a few years of it being on an older truck. The locking mechanism with the little wire/cord you pull to unlock. It just detached. Popped right off when I slammed it shut. Panel still folded down, just no way to secure things in the back. Just be careful with them and they'll last for quite a while.

Good info- I'll take it easy when closing. The guy here at Discount Hitch in Houston said it's there No 1 seller. He did say the Rough Country (which is cheaper) is about the same on the water resistance.
