Congrats to you and Alex and your journey. I've followed it from the sidelines here.

I don't have stars at the moment, so can't DM. Would it be possible to get your email? My wife is in the early stages of writing a book in the educational space. I was hoping we might be able to get any lessons learned on the process. Wisdom regarding how to plan / structure something like this, the writing process, people to contact regarding publishing / editing l, etc.

I figure you probably have a whole lessons learned that could help her get in the right track and build her belief she can do this.

Shouldastayed - I don't have page numbers down but I was sure I knew exactly what line you were refering to. Time, faith, and perspective have healed a lot of sorrow, but even though I have seen and thought about that line thousands of times, it still gets me every single time.

You don't know how much the feedback means to me. If you go fishing, at the end of the day you know how you did. Golf, bird hunting, fix a sink, make a sale at work, repair a piece of equipment - or break one! , etc, you see the result and can take satisfaction or lessons learned from that feedback loop.

I have discovered that one of the unnerving things about writing for the public is you send it out into the universe and hope for the best, but for most of the readers you will never hear what resonated and what didn't.

I guess in that way it is kinda like fatherhood, too. You get little peeks here and there about the job you are doing, but you don't really know how good a job you are doing for a long while.

Thanks for taking the time to share that and I hope you find that everytime a heartstring is plucked a funny bone is tickled not too many pages away.

Just finished and left review on Amazon. I love your ability to use words and convey feelings and emotions - what a gift. It's been a joy watching your videos as well. You have a story to tell (we all do) - and thank you for sharing it.

It is the line about making a promise to your daughter and not being able to keep it. It brought a lot of things into my head and heart that I had squashed and not dealt with in a long time. Thank you for putting this book in our hands, I am already experienceing some self healing and am not that far into it yet.

I got my book in about 4 days ago. Set it by my nightstand but wasn't ready to get started based on what has been said about Ch 1. Tonight I opened it up and got through the first 2 chapters.

Ch 1 was a tough read but also comforting in some ways and a good reminder for me to enjoy this time while they are young and keep building memories.

Ch 2 felt like you were inside my head. I deal with a lot of the same questions on my being a dad job. I was also an engineer turned stay at home dad. There were plenty of relatable stories and it was helpful to hear. My son who is 5 tells me when he grows up he wants to be a daddy like me. It is a touching thing to say but also makes me question some of my actions. I like reading that it is trying to be the worlds greatest dad for your kids. That was some perspective that I needed.

I look forward to see what the rest of the book has in store. Thank you for sharing your stories.

You guys got your hard copies before I got mine. Amazon is kinda weird about the copies they send to the author and puts a low priority on them.

Gunny, thank for thinking of giving Rick a copy. Those were some special days for Alex and I know as he gets older some of those lessons will sink in even deeper. He has built about 100 boats since we made that trip. It will be 20 degrees and windy and he still wants me to take him to a local pond to test them out.

Cibaio - appreciate those comments. I'm looking forward to you getting to the chapter where I take Alex and our dog to the park. I'm betting you can relate to that one all to well, too!
