This pic and the aoudad were in western Hamilton county on the family place. Some of my bobcat pics are in mills county on my deer hunting property. I now live in Brown county!

275 gallon poly tote fed by an approx 8' by 12' tin roof with a gutter on the edge. The posts are cedar cut from the property and the roof is just framed on 2x4s. We necked the outlet from the tote down to 3/4" and piped to the float valve with a heavy duty 3/4" garden hose buried underground. We theoretically capture about 60 gallons from a 1" rainfall and get some extra from heavy condensation on the tin when it doesn't rain. When it doesn't rain (which has been most of the time lately) we just haul water down to it in 55 gallon plastic drums. We started with a smaller water pan, but replaced it with the one linked below more recently.

It counts as providing supplemental water on your wildlife management plan if you are doing a wildlife tax valuation.

I have a couple of 1,000 gallon poly tanks ready to use and my next plan is to get a solar pump and setup a bird focused feature with moving water during the day and some shallow splash areas kind of similar to the bird blinds out at South Llano State Park, but on a smaller scale. I will document it here when we do it.

This is cool. Thanks for posting. I've seen others here a long time ago & wanted to build one.
My uncle did one with an existing wind mill during the 2011/2012 drought. All kinds of animals were coming to that thing.

Why'd you go to a bigger drink tank? Seems you'd lose more water to evaporation the bigger surface area you have.
