Funny story about those lizards... Before daylight Saturday morning (before I ended up shooting a nice buck) I was undoing one of the windows in my pop up blind and something alive jumped/fell into my hand. After I almost tore that blind apart and grabbed my headlamp, I found the culprit at my feet...

I had an anole climb on my head and neck in the duck blind on Sunday morning. He must have grabbed a ride on the brush we used and it was quite the surprise.

Texas spiny lizard for sure. They are everywhere in Georgetown. Very shy once they spot you, and and very hard to catch.

Not 100% as some of these lizards look very similar but I'd guess western fence lizard... common sagebrush lizards look very similar but live at higher elevations and have less keeled scales.

12f would know for sure.

They are hard to catch but not too hard. The whiptails on the other hand... good luck.

Tracking a deer in Burleson County Friday night and stumbled upon this dude. Ive seen two in my life. First one was about 100 yards away, five years ago.

Sorry. This one was about 10 inches from my hand when I went out on the patio to grab a package that was delivered!

Looks real... looks like an indigo chowing down on a western DB rattlesnake which they are prone to do.

I recognized the snakes. But I was just not sure it was real. AI and all that.

I think it's just some weird lighting conditions or maybe a filter that makes the snake appear much more blue than normal.

On a trail on a mountain in Big Bend Ranch State park. Coming out from a hunt in the pitch dark. Had to push my son off the trail or he would have stepped on it

Just to clarify, that's a western diamondback ? Or some other rattlesnake variety?

Western Diamondback. Crotalus atrox.

There are also Prairie Rattlers, Mottled Rock Rattlers, etc in the general area depending on elevation and general location.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Big Bend state park is the absolute last place you want to get bit by a WDB rattler. Do the ranger stations have anti-venom? Isn't the closest hospital Alpine?

You were safe. Everyone knows a rattler can't strike you unless they're coiled. You should have petted him.

Must have been a lot of feral hogs in the area. Since the snake didn't rattle.

Maybe too cold, or opted to use camouflage instead of play defense. I've seen some black tails at big bend ranch.

I finally get to make an entry again after the drought we have been under sent all the snakes to the creek bottom areas where there is water and more food.
