I'm trying to understand what the angle is on fake/bot/foreign accounts who post fake AI images on FB or other platforms. What is the point of doing this? Are they somehow able to gather data from the users that interact with the post?

I've obviously seen the ones who post a link with an AI image and hope that someone will click.

But I can't figure out what these other accounts are gaining by just posting fake images only.

1. Keep eyeballs on the app
2. Put ads in front of those eyeballs
3. ???
4. Profit

Ok, so these accounts get monetized just from people clicking on their posts? Didn't know that. Most of these are junk accounts that only have a few hundred followers.
