The pro version is worth it alone for the extra lens. In one of the previous generations I had the pro and my wife had the regular model and she eventually left all the picture taking to me because my photos came out better. W eventually both moved to the pro for the 16.

I just got the 17 pro, upgraded from a 13 pro. The biggest wow factor for me is the battery. I can go an entire day and still have roughly 50-60% battery left with fairly heavy useage. The 13 pro was always drained by mid-day.

Upgraded from a 14 Pro Max to a 17 Pro Max. The extra screen size is a great feature for elderly eyes. It's also easier to hold and use. Buy a refurb Pro Max in a previous version if money is tight.

I agree with getting the pro. If you can find a deal on the 16, you might jump on that unless you need whatever new features the 17 adds (I don't know what those are). I got my 16 around very early spring this year and it has worked well so far. My XS battery wasn't holding much of a charge anymore.

If you can get a new one that is NOT on iOS26 then do that.

iOS26 is garbage. The "liquid glass" is just a huge distraction and battery drain. Avoid it if you can.
