Checking in - everyone still happy with their Bambu printer. Over the last couple of months, it's been one issue after another. The latest problem is a nozzle temperature malfunction.

I've had a bad reel of filament but otherwise still loving my P1S.

Zero issues with my A1. After running a nozzle heat tower test for my different filament types i have had no issues other than a filament break here and there.

Heard a squealing noise when printing near the front of the bed yesterday. I'm guessing it needs some lubrication, but haven't had time to confirm yet. Just bought this summer with only moderate use since then.

I lubed mine up after first use. Very easy process with included lube tubes.

I think i've convinced myself to wait and see pricing for the P2S before i make any rash decisions..

The universe is testing me. I got a nasty clog on my Centauri Carbon last night that i still have not been able to clear. Should i take this as a sign?

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to see if those were lost over the summer (or just order new ones).

Hopefully you got the ams 2 with the dryer built in. My brother says they are awesome. I still need to order mine. I think all printers except for the highest end one need the external power cable accessory for the drying to function. In A1's case, i need the ams 2 pro, the splitter adapter and the switching power supply accessory to make it all work. Without the power supply it will only perform ams functions without drying.

Heading to Microcenter to pick up the P1S on sale. First project will be trying to figure out how to make mini A&M helmets. Hopefully this hobby will stick, lol

Anyone know when the P2S will be available?

Rumors floating around that it could be November 12th. But there hasn't even been any pricing info released yet, so who knows.

The price is the same as the original P1S. $799 with AMS 2.

It's also already released, as well, just not in the U.S for some reason. Speculation was issues with the FCC, but nothing official.

The $799 price isn't 100% confirmed because of tariff uncertainty. I believe that's also (at least partially) the reason it's not available yet here.

I'm interested in this but have no idea what I can really do with a good printer. Where do I go for to find out? Good YouTube follows?

YouTube is easy rabbit hole to get sucked into. Things like "best 3d prints" "most useful 3d prints" and such will pull up lots. You can also just go to makerworld.com, which is bambulabs own site for models and just browse the popular prints.

I think that answer is different for every person.

I wanted to get into printing for a long time, but the tech was just maturing at such a quick pace. I didn't want a trinket maker and wanted to enhance some of my woodworking and other craft skills. I was hesitant because I felt like the CAD learning curve was a barrier that I needed to overcome for it reach its full potential for me.

But I finally bit the bullet a few years ago with a Prusa Mk3S+ and a hobbyist Fusion360 account. It's been a game-changer for me and I wish I had done it sooner. I've been able to make simple things (angle jigs, depth shims, etc) to more complex things (router templates, adapters, indexing fixtures, etc). I've found Fusion easier to use than I expected, and there's an enormous amount of support for it. I've found a lot of solutions that other people have come up with, but have devised pleeeeeenty of my own.

I guess the first question I would ask is, "why are you interested?" and focus on that. There's so many ways people use them and a ton of communities online/youtube content.

The second thing I would recommend is just see if you can find a entry or used model for sale and start printing. A lot of people get into it pretty quickly once they get started and they realize what the tech can do.

Good luck.

I've started thinking about it for just random quality of life things.

1: I got new 8" wheels for my pellet smoker but got wheels that are skinnier than the stock ones to save money. I spent 30 minutes at Lowe's trying to find a spacer washer that would keep the wheels from skating around. I could print those real quick.

2: I want a cup holder and phone holder for my bumpy tractor and think I could print a better one than I could find.

3: Xmas things for my wife.

4: Things I can't think of yet. Saw a laptop holder on maker world. Makes me think about speaker stands for my pc speakers too.

I'm sure it'd help with a ton of things that waste my time. Even hooks in my closet to hold stuff.

Lots of gyroscopic cup holders out there that are perfect for bumpy vehicles. I printed a few for strollers and one for the lawn mower.

As an engineer, I make a lot of my own 3D designs.

Stuff I've made Printables Profile
-Washing Machine Door Latch
-Dishwasher parts
-Various Adapters
-Aquarium Parts
-Phone mounts
-LugCap covers
-DnD Dice Cases
-Custom Measuring Cups for 1 scoop
-Flexible Shower Head holder

Stuff I've printed from the internet
-Vacuum Cleaner/Shop Vac attachments
-Planters
-Broom Holders
-Yeti Mug Cup Holder
-Extension Cord Rack
-Fishing Rod Holders
-Cleats for my outdoor projector screen

I've got an Creality Ender 2 but I am going to get a new printer for Christmas that does all the auto leveling stuff because I hate having to do all that by hand. I also need a direct extruder so I can get into different print materials. Either getting Bambu or Flashforge. I've got a friend that brought his Flashforge on the Texas A&M training ship and we printed all sorts of stuff for the ship. They're trying to justify to the school or the government that subsidizes the ship to buy 3D printers to have onboard.

I use Shapr3D since I have a free EDU account from temporarily working at Texas A&M, but I will have to find an alternative software soon. Solidworks sells a Makers subscription for $50/yr.

Ended up talking myself out of the new AMS pro 2. The requirements to unload each spool everytime you want the drying to be able to run killed it for me. I will likely look into a 3rd party solution instead like SunLu's dryer topper for the AMS original. It can automatically dry anytime it needs to and doesn't have the idiotic requirements to unload the spools.
