That is the trade-off for making overtime "more fair" by giving both teams a possession no matter what…increases the chance of the game ending in a tie.
It would have been hilarious though if that next to last play had taken one more second and the game had ended. Love got away with that one.

GB just lost to Cleveland last week and got tied by Dallas tonight. They had that big opening day win.

Watching the replay, the only reason time didn't run out was because the ball hit Sanborn in the back and immediately fell to the ground. If it goes out of the back of the end zone time runs out, and if it gets to Golden the back of his second foot landed on the line and it would have been incomplete also with time running out.
