Same thing here a few years back. Moved to Wisconsin. Son was accepted into A&M and into Computer Engineering program. He worked hard in school and was the cadet commander of his Civil Air Patrol squadron. Accepted a $1200 corps scholarship and out-of-state tuition waver. He was about to head for new student conference when we received a letter stating the scholarship needed for the waiver had been increased to $4000. We couldn't swing the out-of-state rate. Corps encouraged him to take a huge student loan for the freshman year and apply for an ROTC scholarship (no guarantee) for the last 3 years at A&M. He wisely rejected that. He graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) two years ago and is now employed in his field at Marquette University in Milwaukee and is working on a master's degree in the evenings.

Good time to mention that texas residents who contemplate moving to other states buy a prepaid tuition plan. Once a plan is purchased as a Texas resident you get in-state tuition no matter where you move.
