Will play the victim and whine about Trump and how the end of his propaganda show is somehow the end of democracy as we know it

Colbert is a fake. He's your typical liberal thats knows so much that isnt so and has a platform to tell us about it.

I have never watched a single second of his show (nor the other talking heads like Kimmel) but he looks like a total dufus and from what I have read, that is what he is.

The fact that that little lying piece of **** ****er had a whole year to pontificate is just ridiculous. Of course I don't watch it, but I've seen a few clips show up now and then that I can only get through about three seconds up. Years ago he used to be funny, but the man has just been affected by massive TDS.

He truly is a piece of ***** Both he and Kimmel. Well basically, all the late night people.

Yeah, right, Colbert is Catholic. If he ever steps in a church, I am sure lightning would strike him before he got 3' inside the door.

He's really into Lord of the Rings and is currently planning a new LOTR film. Can't wait to see how he ruins that.

Colbert gave the wrong answer to that question for the real answer is that EVERYONE then starts to vote Democrat.

Never understood how this huckster got selected to be the host of the show to begin.

Dude always flashes a phony perma-grin smile after telling "jokes" that even he does not find funny.

Good riddance to this wannabe clown.

They should play reruns of "Gilligan's Island" and "The Three Stooges" in the vacated time slot... both exponentially funner than Colbert.

Big mystery for the last guest. Did he snag The Pope?

Apparently is was Paul McCartney. From SNL we know he's been in New York the last few days. Fitting of course being in the Ed Sullivan Theater. Other names mentioned include Elvis Costello and Bryan Cranston.

I have not seen a single episode of this show since Letterman left. I miss Dave throwing stuff off the roof, that was good tv!

Letterman was great in the 80's and early 90's. He started getting political and his show wasn't as funny. But he wasn't even in the ball park of what these morons are like now on late night TV.

He was coming off his popular show on Comedy Central where he played a fake Bill O'Reilly. I've already forgotten the name of it but it was pretty damn funny show if you are able to laugh at yourself. The problem is that transitioning from a fake character to his real self is where this failed which he wanted to do. He wanted to stop doing fake characters. I think many don't realize he came from an improv background.

I was curious and tuned in the first few times of his late night show and was floored at how bad he was and then I never tuned in again.

Yeah, I seem to recall his big break was getting a fake news segment on John Stewart's show which then led to a full time show. One bit of schtick was "truthiness" as it applied to the GWB administration, which I thought was a fair dig. The problem I had with that was it never carried through the Obama administration or beyond but rather just evolved into the same old tired trope of anti-republicanism.

I keep going back to ratings. Kimmel, Fallon, and Colbert are all in the same time slot with the same theme. They are all splitting the same pie. One of them had to go. Blaming this on Trump is just ignorant.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. It was essentially a spoof of Bill O'Reilly's show back in the day if you ever watched Colbert, which I used to. The Colbert Report(?) maybe?

Agree on latter. Entertainment options and economics have changed dramatically. Blaming this on Trump is scapegoat dumbassery.

My take:

I dont care about his politics. We know how the entertainment world leans...I just ignore it.

That said, doing the same type of jokes, every night, for years on end, gets extremely old. It doesn't matter if the subject is Trump, Biden or puppy dogs. Come up with some new schtick, or people will tune you out.

He didn't, and people stopped watching. He cut off his nose, to spite his face...and did it during a time when people's interest in late night talk shows have waned. Not a good combo.

Simple as that.

Yet, we hear ad nauseum, that it was the Trump admin who caused this, and how CBS is horrible for caving (ie. not being ok with 40 million net loss annually), etc.

It's much easier to blame a boogie man, than it is to face facts.

If he was a conservative, or simply avoided politics in favor of entertainment...No one would care. He's only getting this ridiculous send-off, because he spent his years attacking Trump, to his own detriment. It's just a giant circle-jerk of like minded people.
