The two of them (Rs of course) are slinging so much mud at each other,
I'm not sure which one is MAGA and which one is a RINO.

Any insight?

Middleton.

Roy has a 'stained' reputation in the state AGs office and his position of "clearly impeachable" in 2021 impeachment proceedings (even though he voted against) will be a drag on him.

Regardless I'll vote for whichever wins the run-off, but my vote is for Middleton in a couple weeks.

I thought I was voting for Roy in the runoff but now I'm on the fence with all the stuff coming out. Curious to see the general consensus here.

Is there anything to worry about in November in either case? Of course I'll vote for either at that point.

Edit: I've seen the light, Roy it is.

Middleton is a trust fund baby who may be worse than Paxton. Plus his ads leave you feeling that they're pointed to people with a room temperature IQ. I'll take the devil that you know in Chip Roy.

A good time to remember that the bad stuff you read about a candidate from their opponent, is skewed. If would be like not buying a Ford solely because of what a Chevy salesperson tells you about Ford. We don't make decisions like that in any other area of our life so why would we rely on the BS of candidates?

I think they're both MAGA if you have to pick one adjective or the other.

I'm voting for Roy.

With Chip Roy, you know what you're getting.

Worse as in he will be more likely to bring action against H1s, fraud and illegals?

Can't stand either, but will vote for Roy.

I will not vote for someone who's only campaign is "vote for me, I'm MAGA," and "vote for me, I love Trump."

He also looks like he could be Talerico's twin.

If Middleton is the nominee, I will vote for the Libertarian, if there is one, or leave it blank.

It's not going to get over the finish line, but Chip Roy was THE House guy that forced Thune's hand on the SAVE Act. It would not have even come to the Senate Floor without Roy. If nothing else, you at least know where's going to be on immigration in the Texas AG's office. He's also phenomenal on ESG/DEI at the federal level and has committed to continue to move the Paxton BlackRock/State Street antitrust lawsuit on their ESG investing scam.

Middleton is my State Senator and it's been evident from day one that he was using the seat as a springboard to higher office. He's been pretty much a no show for anything local other than the very occasional photo op.

I also just received a mailer from a local group and Ted Cruz wrote a lengthy, ringing endorsement for Chip Roy.

That's good enough for me.

This thread isn't about Paxton/Cornyn.

I would have preferred he stay as AG, and someone more conservative, but without baggage, knock out Cornyn in the primary.

Fair enough. Im just going to enjoy him as a Senator. We will win AG and Paxton has set a standard as to what we expect at minimum. Fingers crossed we are ensuring words meet actions and RINOs arent tolerated

My A&M degree is in Construction Science but I never worked in the construction industry. Going to hire me to build your building?

Middleton has a law degree but never been in a courtroom as an attorney. Want to hire him as the top attorney for the state of Texas?

Middleton, under the guise of religious freedom, introduced a bill that could be used by Islamists to support Sharia law. If he were a real lawyer, he'd know what he was doing.

Chip Roy has been my congressman for 8 years. He's got a constant conservative track record the entire time. Middleton has used $17 million of his Daddy's money to tell lies and half truths in his political ads.

Here's the only question to ask - Who is the most conservative candidate you think has the best chance to win in the general election. Full stop. Nothing else matters but stopping the left.

So what is wrong with being from a successful family? Both of Middletons parents are from Chambers county ranching families and very well respected by their neighbors and communities today and going back to the early/mid 1800s. They didn't become rich and successful by being lazy or stupid. Their heirs today continue to ranch/ farm the same properties and just happened to have oil discovered there in the 1930s. Read up on Archie Middleton chambers co. Mayes still runs that huge ranch and its daily activities. His uncles run the Edward's ranch on his Moms side. Both families still maintain their 1800s built ranch houses down there.

Chip Roy is from Maryland and Virginia and came to Texas for UT law school around 2000 where he met and worked for John Coryns Campaign for US senate. He also worked with Ted Cruz in the early 2000s.

Mayes has reportedly done a good job representing his district in the Tx house and Tx senate and I don't have a problem with him being from a successful family. Happy for him.

Could not disagree more.

Texas AG is a real job, with very real responsibilities that require competence to do the job. If you treat this like a political popularity contest, you run the risk of having an awful, ineffective AG.

And that's precisely my problem with Middleton. I've heard nothing from him about how he'll do the job. All I've heard from his mouth and seen from his flyers is how he thinks that riding Trump's coattails is the only job requirement that's important.

Red flag. Texas deserves more.

Sounds like Roy in this case.

So he inherited it all and has managed not to squander it. Good for him.

I'll take endorsements from actual conservatives like Ted Cruz endorsing Roy than the populist endorsements of Abbott, Paxton the Philanderer, and Lt. Dan for Middleton.
