This happened a couple days ago, but I couldn't find it being discussed here previously.

Rep. Eli Crane proposed an amendment to the spending bill that the House is currently working on that would defund the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) to the tune of $315 million. NED was talked about a ton during the initial DOGE revelations for reckless spending. Mike Benz has been very outspoken about how heavily involved NED is in funding and pushing censorship not only around the globe, but also toward American citizens. Trump already tried to cut the funding for NED, but was previously blocked by an activist judge.

Now R's had the opportunity to codify NED's defunding and 81 of them sided with the Dems who voted 100% in lockstep to keep the funding going. Absolute bull*****!

This is NED right here...

Hard to win a war when you have turncoats within the ranks. There was zero excuse not to defund NED.

Historically, Republicans have proven again and again that they lack the ability to lead. Disgraceful.

Ellzey. Congressman from my district. I have to take part of the blame because I believed what this hack told me to my face. I did all I could to help him get elected.

Then he went to Washington and knifed all of us in the back. I don't know if we can get rid of him now. Too many people keep voting and don't ever look at what these jerks do when in office.

I'm doing all I can now to get this rino out

And this is example #49849081234678 of why Republicans will lose the House. The voters will stay home out of apathy.

**** these people.

I've received more flyers in the mail from him than everyone else combined. For that alone I quit voting for him.

So far, I haven't seen my Congressman vote for any of this crap, thankfully. I'm sure someone could surprise me though.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of these people didn't even know WTF they were voting for. Remember that their interns and aids are the ones doing all of the actual work. The elected officials are just told how to vote by their team.

Well this was a specific amendment just to defund NED, so it's pretty difficult for them to plead ignorance on this vote.

I hate seeing my rep on this list. I was thrilled to see him get elected in 2024, but this is a bad vote (Bresnahan - PA).

Kay Granger was a disgrace and now her hand picked replacement, Craig Goldman, is a disgrace as well.

This is why primaries matter, people.

Seems a bit unfair. They were up against one of the most entrenched, deep state bureaucracies in the history of mankind where even your supposed allies (Republicans) oppose any cuts. It was never going to be successful at scale regardless of how they approached it.

Furthermore, both parties said from the get go that Mandatory Spending would remain untouched and Military is not getting cut if we want to remain the primary superpower. This results in Mandatory + Military (Discretionary) + Debt Interest accounting for ~90% of all spending. And note that all three of these categories will continue to increase in perpetuity until our population starts declining. Thus, that leaves you with a pittance 10% of Discretionary to play with which means we were never going to curtail anything. Simple math here.

At best, you get the blatantly obvious fraud cut temporarily until the next administration comes along to reinstate it all. Or your insurgent party members just reinstate it during the current admin once the next big media thing comes along to provide cover which is happening here.

Yeah this isn't surprising in the least. I went from 0% hope of correcting course to about 1% when DOGE was announced. The real question now is how will DOGE be turned into an outright destructive alphabet agency just like all the rest. It's so absurd at this point I'm thinking it will actively hunt down what minuscule efficiencies the govt has left and destroy them. What an absolute **** show our govt is.

The best thing it did was to expose USAID which was a great outcome. However, I'm just assuming at this point much of that funding has been already been restored or will be soon. I've never seen a scorecard post DOGE of what has actually happened with all of that.

John Carter is more mentally impaired than Joe Biden. Not an exaggeration. We attended a Reagan dinner in Round Rock a couple of years ago, and he literally could not remember the punchline of a two line joke. Yet, the Republican powers that be will not allow him to be primaried. It's a disgrace.

I guess, but it's all so demoralizing. We cant even get the govt to cut out obvious fraud. Personally, I'm tired of just exposing it or whatever. I've known it was bad for a long time and I thought if more people knew the scale of it all, maybe we'd get some changes. Nope. We've become too apathetic. I guess we're all just hoping it "doesn't get that bad."

I swear they could put out a video with both parties telling us straight to our faces that they're stealing our money and we're all a bunch of idiot suckers. They could probably even dare us to do something about it…and still nobody would
