I saw this in various news sites.

Years ago, I used to think that Zuckerberg was a genius. He went to Harvard and started FB and became a billionaire. But then when he began to pimp "Metaverse", I was not so sure. According to him, people in the future would wear his scifi goggles all hours of the day and communicate with others in a metaverse - that he controls of course. He spent billions on this. Until I guess he realized he was wasting money and so jumped on the AI bandwagon and is now pouring billions on that.

I saw this movie. It's called "Gamer", starring Michael C Hall (Dexter) and Gerard Butler.

Scary. But he wanted this future.

The Meta clown-show never stops.

Now that Zuck is bored of the Metaverse and is "excited" about Super Intelligence", he is firing all the people whom he pampered a few years ago and licking the boots of young "whizkid" AI hires with multi-million dollar pay packages.

Prediction:
Action item for Zuck: Change the boring and outdated name "Meta" to something cool and futuristic like

"Infinite AI Intelligence Labs"

Yes, I had to add my handle in there.

Meta has discontinued its metaverse for work, too

Quote:

Two months before it changed its name to "Meta," Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg personally introduced us to his metaverse for work: Horizon Workrooms, envisioned as a virtual space for workers to collaborate. Today, the company announced it's shutting that space down: "Meta has made the decision to discontinue Workrooms as a standalone app, effective February 16, 2026," reads the note tucked away on a help page.

Meta will also no longer sell its headsets and software as a service for businesses, another help page reads: "We are stopping sales of Meta Horizon managed services and commercial SKUs of Meta Quest, effective February 20, 2026."

Meta just laid off roughly 10 percent of its entire Reality Labs division, over 1,000 jobs. In the aftermath, it's becoming increasingly clear that Zuckerberg has changed his mind about what the word "metaverse" actually means. Mobile yes, smart glasses yes, but maybe not VR.

Aren't we starting to cut the H1B nonsense?

If we cut it, what about "innovation"?
That is what the CEOs tell us. No H1B, no innovation.

That's gayer than Liberace and Richard Simmons redecorating their love nest with Pioneer Woman designed knick-knacks.

Not everything is about H1B.

Their Metaverse and other adventures have been money pits from the word go. He thought the Metaverse would become the OASIS from Ready Player 1 and it blew up in his face.

I think everyone saw that coming except him

I think high profile successful CEOs at some point get surrounded by yes-men who suck up for promotions and bonus. I am sure many of his VPs knew the Metaverse idea sucked but no one wanted to tell him. I am no VP or CEO but I knew from the beginning it was a terrible idea, how come so many smart VPs didn't know? I bet they did. No one wanted to bell the cat.

So Emperor walked with no clothes.
