Shock. Not. The BBC already got busted and had to apologize just a few weeks ago for manipulating the news. Now this.
I guess no one in the U.K. has read George Orwell's novels. Side note; Orwell was British.

They can't afford to do that unless they are just go all-in with China. And who is going to buy their expensive exports, if not us?

For folks wondering if the Euro leftists are aligned with American ones, here's your answer;

These are not allies, and are major political figures in our Nato-member nation-states, often members of governing coalitions.

I like the first response to that post. This woman is evil and needs to be helicoptered.

WSJ has an article this morning saying Europe has finally realized that they are falling irrevocably behind the US, China, and even Russia. I know, I chuckled too. Some points made in the article:

  • Trump and China resetting the rules of trade this summer with no EU input
  • Trump/US latest plan for Russian/Ukraine peace with no EU input
  • China's devastation of EU manufacturing topped of by China's EV dominance
  • Trump's imposition of a unilateral 15% tariff that the EU had to meekly accept
According to the article, the EU is "now" very serious about re-armament, forming cross-national economic consortiums, and achieving greater political consensus.

A couple of opinions:
1) Many in the EU may hate him, but if the EU survives and prospers it will be due to DJT conclusively showing their utter impotence. But the EU has been in a tailspin for decades, I personally doubt their ability to turn things around with their high social costs, fractious governing structure, and self-poisonous immigration rules.

2) This will probably be unpopular on this forum, but the EU's condition now also shows the real cost of that "National Divorce". A US divided into two parts makes each much weaker: probably each not half as strong but instead much less than that.

I personally think that is too high a cost, despite the appeal of moving away from the crazies.

I live in Europe. So many of the governments in the EU nations are in meltdown. When Trump reasserted our country's preeminence in the world, the EU did not know what to do with that. Collectively, the continent knows it is lost, has no ability to defend itself, and is economically broken. Plus, they have complicated manners by implementing all kinds of crazy regulations and policies, including the irreversible policy relating to illegal my immigration.

Now, Spain's socialist, corrupt, and massively idiotic PM has decided to stick yet another finger in Trump's by refusing to allow the US to use jointly-operated bases during the current conflict. Sanchez despises Trump and US but lives the Palestinians and Hamas, Xi and the CCP, and the current/former Iranian regime. Inexplicable. It's like I'm living under a clone of the Biden administration. Every critical decision that needs to be made is made wrong. Sanchez be voted out at the end of 2021, and his party will get demolished.

Over the past 30 years, I've visited Europe many times. The change is wholesale. In the 90's when you went to England, Belgium, Germany or Netherlands - you saw English, Belgian, German and Dutch people when you walked around town. Now, when you walk around those places (especially in the more touristy places), you are overrun with African and Middle Eastern types (most of whom are muslim). Their open borders are 100% destroying their countries

I was making runs to London back in the teens. I'll never get over how many muslim women there won't leave the house without being fully bagged, except for a little slit around their eyes. (where tf are the women's rights activists?)

Yes. EV's take a massive amount of energy to manufacture, and with energy prices what they are in Germany (and Slovakia etc. where VW makes stuff) I think the shift to them was even dumber than the push by Ford/GM/Stellantis here.
