Anyone catch the first two episodes on paramount+? For me so far so good with the early Yellowstone vibes but set in south Texas.

Just finished episode 1 and liking it so far. The two most interesting characters from Yellowstone transplanted to South Texas and they bring their fists and drama with them . What's not to like?

Finished episode 1. Enjoyed it. Definitely early season Yellowstone feel to it.

Felt bad for Carter, but looks like things got better for him quickly.

Looking forward to episode 2.

Rip found an abandoned mine. Even better than the train station

Rip and Beth are going to have to learn Spanish since they moved to the border.

Typical Sheridan. He's mostly correct but the fact that the Montana house had no fire breaks cut significantly all around the perimeter and in multiple places with that level of tall thick dry grass is incompetence and incomprehensible. Any half ass rancher would have countless large breaks cut to the bare dirt in those conditions.

And he's done a good job of making the hour from the border Texas girls all cock teases - another falsehood lol.

Damn Carter, the gate was WIDE open!

Not sure if you caught it, but in episode 2, Oreana had on an Aggie Ring when Carter and her were shooting bottles.

And isn't Cooper's girlfriend in Landman named Ariana? And in DR, Carter's potential girlfriend is Oriana? And they're both flaky *****es? Come on TS, change it up a bit.

I am going to be disappointed if Beth Dutton doesn't whip Annette Bennings ass by the end of season 1.

Loving it so far. Rip is already Ripping. Just waiting on Beth to start Bething. Only a matter of time.

I thought the whole saving the girl from her drunk boyfriend thing was cheesy. Seems like that's a common occurrence on these shows.

That and the actress for the rich hottie is basically interchangeable with the rich hottie from Landman.

So far its pretty good but a few nits to pick.

As with some Sheridan productions they are playing pretty fast and loose with Texas Geography. (set in south Texas, filmed south of Ft. Worth) so the trees/land etc are all wrong. Hell or Highwater did the same thing.

Supposed to be an hour north of the border, but there are a hell of a lot of blondes in that High School.

Inmates released from TDCJ are required to be clean shaven, not like the scruff that the hired hand has.

Beth not being able to make a deal with Annette Benning's character seemed like a stretch. She can negotiate massive land deals but not getting steers butchered?

I do like Ed Harris's character though, he's nailing that one.

Agreed. I spend a few days a month in the RGV for work and the ratio of Hispanic to White would be 80/20 Hispanic in a conservative estimate. I don't see any convenience stores or restaurants or bars anywhere down there where you walk in and the employees and clientele aren't predominantly Hispanic.

I also find the situation with the kid in HS being a bit far fetched. In a small town setting like that it wouldn't take long for people to know that his parents or guardians own a 5,000 acre cattle ranch. He would be considered wealthy and other kids would more than likely be interested in getting to know him a lot more than what his character experiences.

When I lived in the RGV, it was indeed 80/20. The terrain *could* pass for that area between Laredo and San Antonio. Although, I have yet to see them refer to giant mosquitos, see a taco stand anywhere, or see the beat up pickups

Here is my prediction for the direction of the end of the show.

Carter knocked up coke head Johnson's daughter. She turns on the family that she already hates. Then Casey comes in to take out Johnson family and Carters new family starts the next 150 years of Dutton ranch legacy in south texas.

Carter is already 19 and kind of a goober. I don't see him carrying on the Dutton family legacy

1st husband

Brother - sister. Sheridan loves the family dynamics of siblings.

Kind of what I was thinking. Or maybe the father of the black-sheep son (and grandfather of Carter's potential girlfriend).
