Ever thought a song was about something particular, but turned out to be something different?

Kenny Loggins - This Is It
Kenny wrote this about his dad, who thought he was on his death bed in the hospital

Ace - How Long
Band member wrote this when he went to a club, and saw the band's bass player playing with another band

I love that XM still has DJ's to tell these stories (particularly Classic Vinyl). I figured both of the above were about love relationships.

Led Zeppelin "All of My Love" I always thought was just a love song to a girl but was a tribute to Plant's son that died of a stomach virus.

U2's Achtung Baby was released when i was in 8th grade. 'Till the End of the World' was a catchy tune with a neat intro that liked, but I didn't pay attention to the words, just liked The Edge playing guitar. It was about 8 years later when a friend brought up what the lyrics were about, and it blew my mind that the story was right under my nose the whole time.... i know, cool starry bra....

I think Slide being about an unplanned pregnancy shocked me. It feels so obvious now when I read the lyrics, but I always thought it was such a fun song.

My parents always had music on in the house or the car so to this day I can still recite the lyrics of so much from the 70's.

So as a kid I thought Afternoon Delight was about getting something good to eat in the afternoon, like ice cream or a popsicle. I was playing at a friend's house and his mom asked if we wanted a snack and apparently I told her an Afternoon Delight would be great. She told my mom later what I said and my mom in turn told me to stop singing that song without much further explanation.

It wasn't until many years later when my wife and I were watching Anchorman that it donned on me the song was about making a case to your girlfriend for a nooner.

The Wall was released when I was in 1st or 2nd grade. We hadn't seen the movie but heard the songs all over the radio and focused on the line "We don't need no education" and would sing that when we didn't want to go to school and Dad would lecture us on why education was important. He hadn't seen it either and none of us understood the context of the song and the film.
