My daughter introduced me to this show last summer. it started on YouTube in 2023 and got enough positive response to keep putting out new episodes and eventually get picked up on Netflix. It's the work of "Gooseworx" from Glitch and inspired by the 1967 story "I Have No Mouth but I must Scream."
The first few episodes have some laughs, black comedy, pop culture references, and hints of a much larger, sinister story at work. The last 2 episodes, the last one released last Friday, have been been 100% phenomenal, full of Easter Eggs, and very well received, The early episodes all got in the 8/10 range on IMDB. The last few have been 9.3+ with Episode 8 skyrocketing to 9.7/10.
it has a lot of Matrix and Severance vibes. When we watched the last one, and I was telling my daughter that one of the lines is straight out of the Matrix (or close enough), she wanted to watch the Matrix for the first time in her whole life.
The series finale comes out in June.
All of the episodes are free on YouTube. Here's the first one and the trailer.
