As a show watcher, are we supposed to be left wondering if he was being honest about being knighted? I suppose there could be more flashback to reveal, but am I supposed to know the truth right now?

(I admit I might have missed something, or else don't remember a scene)

Based on the flashback when he mentioned being knighted, I assume he was making it up. I do not think we are supposed to know for sure at this point.

I have not read the book so your guess is as good as mine right now.

I thought it was pretty clear that him actually being made a Knight was a major stretch.

He asked the old knight about him wanting him to be a knight and the old knight ignored him.

I assume he's making it up.

this, in the flashback he asks if he will be knighted one day and Ser Pennytree just ignores him.

They really should have made this a movie or like a 3-part miniseries. This short format is going to make some people hate it regardless of how they feel about the actual show.
