I enjoyed the Drizz't books I read, but Dragonlance was really my gateway into fantasy and is still some of my favorite stuff.
This. Dragonlance and LOTR were my gateway drugs. Loved me aome Flint Fireforge!

I remember reading Lloyd Alexander as a kid. I even wrote to him as part of a school project and received an autograph back from him.

Chronicles of Prydain is one of my all-time favorites. I also recall quite liking his Westmark trilogy, but it's been decades since I've read it.

Excellent series.. I prefer these in comparison to Chronicles of Narnia for younger readers. They are up there with the L'Engle's Time Quintet.

Read all those too. For some reason, Alexander stands out as the first in my memory.

"Dark Matter" by Blake Crouch.

Very good book but Blake Crouch doesn't believe in paragraphs.
Mostly he just writes in sentences.
Like this one.
.....He does it for effect.
but sometimes it really gets tedious to read.
Although I still recommend reading.

I just read a book what was called "Martin Chuzzlewit: the bad story about a dumb adventure that wasn't worth writing about". It was about a dumb adventure that wasn't worth writing about and it was a bad story. My copy was written by Charles Dickens and not in iambic pentameter. If you want to read this book, I suggest you rent it. You will not want to be seen owning this book. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Autopsy of a Fairytale book 1 by Nicole Scarano
-- eh, was okay; entertaining enough but could see it going off the rails into "romantasy" in the next books

The Black Tongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman
-- Definitely enjoyable, cleverly funny but not like Dungeon Crawler Carl funny. The only knock I have for it, and this is just personal preference, I don't know why so many fantasy writers feel the need to include songs and poems. Very rarely does it add anything for me. I just want to fast forward through or read past them.

If anybody is looking for a non-fiction read, I just published The Daddy Essays.

Over the years, I have shared a few essays on TexAgs and finally decided to turn them into a book. In it, I share lessons I've learned and influences I have had on my parenting journey. Part of it involves the loss of my daughter, so there is heartache. But there is lots of joy, humor, gratitude, and relatable reflections.

You can find some examples by searching my user profile. Here are two examples:

It's currently free on Kindle Unlimited if you are a subscriber.

Thanks for considering it.

1) A Team For America: The Army-Navy Game That Rallied a Nation at War by Randy Roberts (B)
2) Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert (B+) I don't recall now why I took such a disliking to this novel when I first read it as a teen. It is a solid continuation of the story. Certainly not as refined or developed as Dune but a good read nonetheless.

Next up: What Christians Believe: Understanding the Nicene Creed by Bishop Robert Baron
