Apologies if I already posted, but has anyone seen or can comment on the movie David? Interested in taking my 6, 8 and 10-year-old to see it and based off of the brief online search it seems like it may be generally biblically accurate and mostly family oriented. Anyone seen it that has some thoughts?

Saw it with a friend and our two 7 year olds. It was excellent and biblically aligned. Songs were amazing. Highly recommend for those with or without kids.

Really enjoyed it. Beautiful animation. Great music. David's story is a powerful one.

We saw it the other day and it was fantastic. As good, or better, than a Disney musical but with a deeper story. Very well written.

Like The Prince of Egypt with a touch of Moana.

We had considered it due to some grandparents request to go, but had since seen enough reviews from a religious and Scriptural content perspective that it's not worth it for us. Probably similar to why we don't watch The Chosen. Nothing major for sure however.

Is it appropriate for a 3 year old and 4 year old? Took them to see zootopia 2 last month and they loved the theater.

I'm thinking 1st grade and above.

Nothing too graphic or violent. But very loud and intense at times.

Prince of Egypt is good, great music too. Moana is fun. Glad this one turned out well.

They made the Amalekites super dark and scary to the point my 5 year old was scared quite often. They're also frequently recurring throughout the movie, so it's not just a cover the eyes and be done with it scene. My kids are pretty sheltered from scary content, but under 6 or 7, I'd probably steer clear.

Oddly, on the other end, they softened David up so much that he would have been at no risk of not being able to build the temple or anyone singing about his slaying anyone, much less more than Saul. I'll stress that they took a whole lot of license on this point.

His interactions with Saul were all pretty right on, and his message of faith and fear of God alone were the strongest part of the movie and very solid. The music was good but not super memorable.

Overall, I love the life of David and really didn't care for the movie. My 8 year old who knows his Bible was even calling out the differences. It's not a bad movie but meh.

Here is a 10 min video review I had seen that had some things to consider. I am not familiar with this reviewer and background.
