I have 6 must watch, one is a recent addition. A few others I also usually watch.

BTW Trading Places is not a Christmas movie, but Die Hard is. TP barely has any xmas stuff other than drunk Santa almost killing himself. Neither is Harry Potter really. DH is set at a Christmas party has a Christmas soundtrack, fake snow, xmas decor and multiple christmas references throughout.

Anyway.

Must watch:
  • Die Hard - always first already saw it this year
  • A Christmas Story - also already watched this year
  • Scrooged
  • A Christmas Vacation - already watched this year
  • The Holdovers - new to the list 2 or 3 years ago but so good
  • Love Actually
Also usually will see these although I don't make it a point to:
  • The Grinch - Jim Carrey version
  • How The Grinch Stole Christmas - animated TV special
  • Elf
  • Home Alone
  • A Christmas Story Christmas - newer addition, the sequel is not bad very nostalgic for a nostalgic movie
Don't care for these - don't really like the "classics"
  • It's a Wonderful Christmas
  • The Polar Express
  • White Christmas
  • Miracle on 34th Street
  • A Christmas Carol in any form
Bruce Almighty

A Christmas Story
Christmas Vacation
Home Alone
Home Alone 2

Those are the only Christmas movies I really care to watch every year. I also watch a few Christmas specials like Rudolph and the Grinch, but those aren't movies.

I've always been partial to "Family Man," with Nicholas Cage, Tea Leoni and Jeremy Piven.

Another movie that is Christmas-centric.

All the others are just not that rewatchable, especially A Christmas Story. TBS killed it.

I believe this movie is playing in the background of a scene in The Family Stone.

Only if you watch it multiple times. Once a year on my own timetable it's great.

Admittedly the others are more infinitely rewatchable.

That it is.

The Family Stone is criminally underrated. It might be my favorite Christmas movie.

Agreed with what was said earlier - The Holdovers has become a must watch during the holiday season for us. We already watched it during Thanksgiving week. Everything else, I'll rotate in and out every couple of years. I generally make sure the cartoon classics are on every year for the kid,

Home Alone
Muppet Christmas Carol

Jim Carrey Grinch
Jingle All the Way

Off the top of my head those are the ones I always try to watch. Been also trying to catch the Nutcracker every year in Houston. Really liked this years rendition.

The Family Man is one of our favorites for Christmas, or anytime we're in the mood for a romantic movie and looking back at the miracle of our relationship. Very quotable, too. We were at a street market tonight and passed a funnel cake food truck; I told my wife she should get a funnel cake because "it will be the highlight of your day." Trivia: it's also the last movie filmed that shows the World Trade Center.

No particular order:

White Christmas
Christmas with the Kranks
Home Alone
Elf
The Muppet Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol(2009)
The Santa Clause
Arthur Christmas
A Charlie Brown Christmas
The Nightmare Before Christmas
How the Grinch Stole Christmas(2000)
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer(1964)

I actually dislike many of the older, more classic ones

Jingle All the Way (guilty pleasure)
Wonderful Life

One I love that I haven't seen mentioned is "The Night Before". It's typically my Christmas Eve night movie that I put on while putting together the kids' toys. Cracks me up every watch.

The universal favorite seems to be Christmas Vacation. Coincidentally, that is my only must watch every year!

Movies that rotate in at out on my screen periodically are:
Family Stone
Family Man
Love Actually
Home Alone
Scrooged
The Ice Harvest
The Ref
The Disney CGI A Christmas Carol with Jim Carey
The Christmas Special from the BBC The Office

Zombie Jon Snow

Literally just watched Bad Santa last night for the first time.

I think it was released at a time when I never would have seen it due to only going to kids movies then - my kids were 8 and 5 in 2003.

It's funny. Not going to be in my regular rotation of christmas movies. But it had moments.

I saw there was also a sequel but I'm wary.

Was in the same boat with my youngest. I did see Bad Santa for the first time about 8 years ago. It's a funny movie, but damn if that is not a movie that I want to watch with the wife.

Fellowship of the Ring. The Fellowship departs Rivendell on December 25th.

It's the ultimate Christmas movie.
