And whilst taking a poo have realized my dad level WWII movie game might be sucking quite a bit….off the top of my head with no googling I've seen the following….

Saving Private Ryan
Memphis Belle
The Von Ryan Express (might have screwed up that title)
The Great Escape
Inglorious *******s
U-571
Downfall

And I've seen bits and pieces and/or clips of these but never a full watch through….

12 O'clock High
Midway
Pearl Harbor
That black and white John Wayne one where he gets pushed around in a wheel barrow
The Guns of Navarrone
The other Navarrone one….they blow up a dam this time?
Band of Brothers (not a movie but know it deserves mentioning)
Hacksaw Ridge

And that's it…so what WWII flicks should I make a priority here….my dad's likely rolling in his grave right now….

Fury, but in my opinion, this one is completely forgettable.

And at least a dozen more I'm forgetting .

Edited to add: can't believe I forgot Patton, and I mentioned some you've already seen. :^(

A Midnight Clear -- more of a drama than a true war movie, but really meaningful, great acting by a young Gary Sinise and Ethan Hawke.

Generation War -- German-made miniseries following a group of young people during the war, based largely on stories the writer's grandfather told him.

Plenty of great ones already mentioned, but here are a few:
Dunkirk
Das Boot
The Longest Day
Dirty Dozen

WW2 related: Schindler's List, Life is Beautiful, & Unbroken, but this starts going down a path of movies focused on concentration camps or life during the war....Casablanca...the Producers...Top Secret!

Trying not to cross over with others:

The Big Red One
Schindler's List
A Bridge Too Far
Kelly's Heroes
Midway (old school version)
Tora! Tora! Tora!
U-571
Monuments Men (it was just okay, but it is a WW2 movie... I enjoyed it but didn't love it)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

The Longest Day is the one with John Wayne being pushed around in the wheelbarrow.

They Were Expendable

The Best Years of Our Lives (returning veterans)

King Rat (POW story)

Seriously, I think you should start with "Band of Brothers."

I've never met anyone who wasn't absolutely enthralled by BOB. Just fantastic storytelling.

"Kelly's Heroes" is a must.

You could probably use some Armor.

Band of Brothers is one of the greatest war movie/show/media that has ever been made, and definitely the best WWII.

Pacific was also decent; but not nearly as good as BoB

A Bridge Too Far

Tremendous cast, about Operation Market Garden, gives a perspective of the difficulties of joint operations and the rare movie about an Ally defeat. It will give you knowing head nods when you add it to your list.

Another vote for Band of Brothers. I think it is not only the greatest war movie/show ever made, but the greatest of any genre.

It's more about the end of the war and the homecoming but "The best years of our lives" is a must watch, imo.

One of the few movies I have on dvd.

It should be a must-watch for all.

Agree about Best Years Of Our Lives and 12 O'Clock High. Must sees...

I'd add these (hopefully not repeating anyone) that I feel are worthwhile to watch.

Battleground (edit)

Run Silent, Run Deep (Clark Gable, Burt Lancaster)

In Harm's Way (John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, and several others).

Letters From Iwo Jima (Clint Eastwood production)

From Here To Eternity (more love story stuff, but what a cast. Takes place in Hawaii)

Downfall (about Hitler's last days - one scene has been used 1000 times , overdubbed, to chronicle Aggie football - but still think it's excellent)

Greyhound - Tom Hanks on a Destroyer. (Maybe not a big hit, but I liked it )

When Trumpets Fade (HBO film, great cast. Probably not well known, but a favorite of mine. Revolves around a squad during the miserable Hurtgen Forest time)

Mister Roberts (on a ship in the Pacific. Henry Fonda, Jack Lemmon, James Cagney, and several others. Based on a novel and Broadway play)

The Caine Mutiny (Humphrey Bogart in a great performance with a great cast)

Dropped in to emphasize Das Boot. While I'd never get in one, I'm fascinated by the submarine genre. The guys that DO get in them are a different breed.

I second Greyhound. That's a really good movie.

Fury is an absolute must watch for me. Great movie about tanks.

If you saw parts of the movies, I'd watch all of Guns of Navarone and Midway (the old one or the new one).

Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is a good newer movie.

Masters of the Air is a really good series. Not as good as Band of Brothers, but gives a great look at the lives of bomber crews.

Enemy at the Gates is a great movie about the Eastern Front.
