What did you think was bizarre about running out of fuel after a 7 hour flight from Dubai with a couple of course deviations and an extra ascent to cruising height after the aborted landing?

This is basic long haul flight 101. Probably why nobody mentioned it.

I don't know if you remember this but when Qantas first started flying 747-400s nonstop from Dallas to Sydney. About half the time they'd run low on fuel and have to divert to Brisbane and refuel before flying the final 500 miles south to Sydney.

Also when MH370 disappeared the speculation had to be reined in based on the amount of fuel they had taken onboard. The aircraft was capable of flying nonstop to San Francisco but they didn't put that much fuel on board.

And probably the best example was when the hijacked Ethiopian Airlines plane ran out of fuel and crashed just off the coast by a resort after the hijackers forced them to try to fly to Australia.

They literally showed what was in the bag in the first episode.

I think a lot of loose ends were on purpose to set up a possible second season - like what happened to the other guy that got out of prison.

I thought it was entertaining. I actually didn't mind some of the shortcuts they took in the writing - well at least not as much as I can't stand the over the top crap they do in say the Mission Impossible movies.

So what's the verdict on this one?

Payoff worth the time, or just meh?

It's okay, worth the watch, but not the wait for the weekly episodes...

Lots of things to object to. One of mine is that planes make a lot of background noise while in flight... not enough in this one for me to be convinced...though I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Ending is a bit anticlimactic.

Just got AppleTV for Ted Lasso, which is amazing.

Appreciate the tip on Hijack and Tehran. Any other really good shows on Apple? Sorry for the sidetrack but this thread seems somewhat appropriate to ask.

And I really can't believe how good Ted Lasso is. We've just finished season one and my wife is literally pissed that none of her friends forced her to watch it.

I avoided Platonic until I ran out of stuff to watch because I thought it would be too Seth Rogan-y, but it is really good. A lot like Shrinking.

Watch Shrinking as well. A lot of the same writers as Ted Lasso and its great.

In fairness, a lot of the action in the show happens up at the pointy end of the plane where it's quieter ahead of the engines.

We started watching Hijack, finished one episode, probably won't finish it.
AppleTV has had some great shows.
We loved Ted Lasso, but that last season's epidode 1 completely turned us away, I'm not even sure we made it through the first episode. Utter crap!
We tried Severence, but only the first episode and stopped. Couldn't get into it.
Foundation is good, but a brain-full to watch and understand. Even as avid SciFi fans. After we catch a good recap we will try the next season when we are prepared to watch it.
Slow Horses - was one of the best shows we have seen in a good while, cannot wait to see what comes next. We thought it started out slow, but kept coming back to see the first 2 complete seasons.
Silo - was another slow start but great watch. I know what I saw in the last episode, not sure what they do from here. I'm glad my wife got over her claustrophobia to finish it.

We have recently changed our "Dump It" rule from 1 episode to 2 because we some shows off too early.
Do I need to keep trying past the first episode of any that we stopped?

Bad Sisters

Two episodes in and there are some incredibly stupid plot points.

- How did they get 5 guns on the plane? One distracted baggage checker just runs from her post and no one picks up where she left off?
- The plane calls in a possible incident and then says yup DEFINITELY an incident. Then just says lol jk we all good and everyone drops it?
- Mastermind hijackers have absolutely no idea how a plane works or navigates? "How do I know we are going to London?" "Because it says so." "Oh, ok."
- Professional crime scene cleaner up guys leave the door open to the apartment that they are cleaning up a murder? I mean come on.

If this stupid stuff keeps happening I'm going to bail.

definitely some plot holes in the story, but most of the things you pointed out are explained in later episodes (and some already have been).

Not trying to convince you to stick with it, because there are storylines later than make your gripes seem quaint.

Sounds like it's not worth continuing. I'm getting too old wasting time watching series just because I started them.

Overall I stayed interested/entertained enough, but it definitely was not a good show. I'm on a two-project bad Elba streak after watching "Luther: The Falling Sun" on Netflix a few weeks ago. Holy crap it was awful.

The Hijack writing was bad enough (or maybe I'm dumb enough) that after the final scene I still wasn't totally sure if we were supposed to suspect that Sam was in on it. Was the "Say Cheese" his final "F You, I'm getting away with it" to the main hijacker? I honestly couldn't tell. And didn't really care by then.

Also, my biggest gripe with this show is that everyone just accepts that the top bad guy is going to get an enormous amount of money just because he shorted an airline company right before he masterminded a hijacking to make that company's stock crash. Does nobody on that writing staff know how stock exchanges are regulated? They show is having us believe in a world where everyone is just like "well crap, he got away and we gotta give him his money, fair and square. Dangit!"

Once the scheme was revealed I also got pissed because it was unoriginal. That was the plot of Casino Royale.

So I tried to suspend belief amid the long list of things that have already been pointed out (fuel, security checkpoint, etc., etc., etc.).

I'll add to it:

Non-standard headsets on the controllers....I laughed at the adjacent controller to the heroine with the decorative 'headset'.

The controller asking another country's ATC to 'share their screens' so they could see the tracks.
