This is like being upset your Sprite takes like Coke.

that's why I put in Old Man Yells at Cloud. I made that post right before bed.

my daughter, who minors in film, said that it was just ok. she used a lot of technical movie terms of why she didn't really like it but I can't remember anything she said.

flame away at old white man!

Yeah, this might have been more of an "old man yells at cloud" more than anything.

For one, we watched it late on Easter Sunday which was a bad idea.
Everybody was tired. My son typically locks in pretty well and he was yawning at the end.

Two, the crowd there was just horrible. Babies everywhere crying. People barely watching and on their phones the whole time. A group of 5-10 came in literally halfway through the movie and sat right in front of us. And they were an obnoxious family. I literally zoned out at that point.

Three, I don't remember the first one. I was thinking of Wreck It Ralph when I went in which is one of my favorite cartoon movies.

Not sure I'll want to watch it again though.

But what was your issue with the film?

This one is high on my list of, "why would I spend the time or money to watch that in the theater".

Based on when I was awake...

1. Poor plot - not sure there was much of one. Very busy movie without a real story that I could grasp.
2. Not much character development. who were the main characters? can't really tell you.
3. Felt geared towards children. Good cartoons throw in some things that keep the adults intrigued.
4. Visuals were good. Story was bland.

I think your points echo my own and are wrapped up in the conclusion of this review

Sure, there are impressive visuals, and it will satisfy a quick nostalgia craving. And yes, kids will be entertained. But it disrespects children's intelligence, and both kids and Mario deserve better. It's like giving a child too much Nerds candy. It's bright and colorful, and at first, everything seems fine, but then the headache gradually begins.

The story couldn't have been more simple. They are trying to rescue Rosalina.

I wonder why they didn't have Donkey Kong in this one.

Life is better without having to hear Seth Rogan's "heh, heh, heh" voice.

Took my son to see it tonight, he enjoyed it. I almost fell asleep several times, kind of wish I could have now.
