Just finished watching the first three seasons back to back and really enjoyed it. The alt space history was such a great concept to create a show around. Being alt history I totally get their woke angle on everything (and thought it was actually pretty well done for the most part unlike most Hollywood hack jobs) - hell they almost had the perfect title for it even - kind of surprised they went with Mankind instead of Humankind lol.


Man I miss Gordo.

Ed has to have been born in the 1938-1943 time frame since he had finished Annapolis and flew in Korea, making him 57-60.
Karen is the same age.
Molly is about the same age.
Ellen and Danielle are probably 10 years younger making her 47-50.
Margo was around 25 in 1969, making her around 50 as well.
Aleida was 7 in 1969? So making her around 32.

The Korean War was fought from 1950 to 1953.
Ed would have to have been born in 1931 at the absolute latest and more likely 1929 or earlier.
They've done a terrible job aging these characters.

Just finished season 2. Looking forward to binging S3. Hope it's better than S2 was because there were some pretty ridiculous moments. Ed flipping his T-38 head over tail 3 or 4 times in the dogfight with Gordo being the worst.

I didn't know his age offhand but that's precisely the point I was making.

Seems like a lot of things happened during that 20 minute burn in the last episode

Weakest season so far. Missing the original show runner Moore. Way too much time spent on the smuggling ring.

Baldwin's make up and acting were soo soo bad.

I hope that's the end of Margo.
But I'm sure they'll have her consulting from Federal Prison.

That's my question too. You would need to refuel, but the shuttle expends its tank plus those big RS-25s are sea level engines. Seems like they would need Starship

The SSMEs were perfectly capable of vacuum flight. Most of the Shuttle ascent is above the appreciable atmosphere. They were optimized as "upper stage" engines that could just tolerate sea level conditions. The ahistorical issue is that they were not capable of startup (or restart) without lots of ground support equipment, which is why NASA dropped the idea of using them as second-stage engines on the cancelled Ares vehicles.

Scott Manley did a cool video investigating whether you could use the Shuttle OMS engines to transit from Earth orbit to lunar orbit. It could conceptually be done if you staged a bunch of propellant in Earth orbit along with a bunch of other caveats.

Just finished watching all 4 seasons after my brother hounded me for 3 years to do so. Season 4 was a letdown in many ways, but particularly seasons 1 and 2 are among the best shows I've ever watched.

thought I was taking crazy pills when I realized Molly Cobb was Penny from lost.

Did they end it after season 4? We never came back to it after a few episodes of labor disputes on Mars.

I held off on reading anything about the series until I finished. They've greenlit a season 5 as well as a spinoff called "Star City".

Season 5 has a lot to make up for Season 4.
is Ed llke 158 years old now?

More interested in the Star City spinoff, not sure when that comes out.

Seasons 1 & 2 of FAM are as good of TV as I've seen in a long time, so I'm willing to give it a chance.

Ed has been hanging around too long. Move it on to the next generation.

Based on the preview of 5, which I will still watch to death, I think we can all assume that an all-out Mars v Earth war will be about to go crazy when they discover alien life.

Just finished rewatching the entire series in anticipation of Season 5, and a thought occurred to me while watching the finale of Season 4. Would Poole as the base commander be responsible for the enhanced interrogation of the Helios contractors?

Season 5 releases at 11 PM Central tonight.
I signed back for Apple TV today. There are 4 short "news segments" on the FAM page that catch us up from the last season to this season. 2 of them bash "President Gore", so that was fun. Looks like the North Koreans are stirring up trouble on Mars.

Didn't find this first episode too exciting. Could not care less about any of these Gen Z kid storylines.

I have no idea how I didn't get to this show until now. I have had AppleTV for all these years, guess I just didn't pay attention to promos. Wife and I just finished season 1 and started 2 tonight. This is great TV.
