Not dumb at all. Tillamook tastes like eating lotion. Blue Bell is a far superior product if you are comparing ice creams. Tillamook would beat Blue Bell if you were comparing the taste of hand moisturizers. So we can say we were both right (assuming you are referring to eating hand lotions, but I will remain referring to ice cream). Win-win.

Since you seem to prefer more "ice" than "cream" you would probably like Sherbet. Most people who appreciate what good ice cream is prefer more cream content (what you call "lotion"). Nothing wrong with liking less cream, but that's like saying the best coffee is decaf.

So, you're basically saying we shouldn't take anything you say from this point going forward very seriously

How did you jump to that? I stated a widely accepted fact that Tillamook < Blue Bell, and I shouldn't be taken seriously now? What a weird take.

It's ice cream, does it really matter if it's cane sugar or high fructose corn syrup? It's not like either is healthy. It's a sweet treat.

Do you apply this logic to soy/veggie burgers?

If it's a fact, then you should be able to prove it.

Never had Tillamook until a few weeks ago. Their vanilla bean is superior to Blue Bell in my opinion.

Also, I didn't realize Blue Bell uses High Fructose Corn Syrup. Disappointing.

Ever made homemade ice cream? Were these on your ingredients list?

artificial flavor (The vast majority of mass-produced artificial vanilla (vanillin) is synthesized much more cheaply from wood pulp, lignin, or petrochemicals), cellulose gum, guar gum, carrageenan, carob bean gum

Yeah, Blue Bell sucks ass

Tillamook also sucks ass

Annatto (Color), Carob Bean Gum, Guar Gum.

Creamy Creations joins the sucks ass club too

Tara Gum, Guar Gum, Xanthem Gum

Now do Haagen-Dazs

cream, skim milk, cane sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla extract

All 4 of Tillamook's vanilla flavors have egg and vanilla extract in their ingredient list.

What a weird thing to lie about.

Can you elaborate please? I remember as a kid my Mom made vanilla ice cream from scratch, and she used egg and vanilla extract. I thought that was common...but maybe I'm incorrect.

This thread inspired me to try Tillamook (mint chocolate chip, the store was out of vanilla bean)

It was good

Tillamook Strawberry is the best ice cream on the planet. Blue bell has always been garbage, but it was our garbage so we protected it. Kind of like Whataburger. I think they have both gotten worse over time and now we have better options.

Smells fat in here.

But Blue Bell is as overrated as Whataburger as far as "Texas things" go.

Ben & Jerry's. Now those commies could make ice cream.

It is (or should be) common. I use those when I make ice cream too. My post was in response to him saying Tillamook used trash ingredients, I was disagreeing.

I had a teacher at Bryan High School in the late 90s that was an ice cream fanatic, and she threw shade at Blue Bell even back then.

So it's never been all that. We just grew up with it and didn't know better.

Overall Takeaway
HagenDazs Vanilla is the richest and highest milk fat content.
Tillamook Vanilla is creamy and premium but lighter.
HEB Creamy Creations Vanilla is sweeter, softer, and the least fatty.

Milk Fat Comparison (Most Important Difference)
Brand
Estimated Milk Fat %

HaagenDazs Vanilla
14-16%
Superpremium
Densest, richest mouthfeel

Tillamook Vanilla
10-12%
Premium
Creamy but lighter than HD

HEB Creamy Creations Vanilla
~8-10%
Standard premium
Softer, sweeter, more air

Why this matters:
Higher milkfat = richer texture, slower melt, more "luxury" feel.

The other 2 he listed next to it as bad are also natural plant based ingredients.

All this talk of ice cream takes me back to old creamery on main campus days.

Yes Snowaggie! I remember going as a kid in the mid-90's and for whatever reason it shut down. Was there a Dairy program for animal science at the University or did the creamery source the milk from a local farmer? I've always wondered about that.

Blue Bell is still good! Can't beat Natural Vanilla Bean. I'm a Braums Ice Cream fan. They have a great selection. Too bad y'all dont have one in BCS...

Like another poster said above, I started making my own homemade ice cream and I prefer it over anything store bought.
