What the hell happened to Blue Bell? Was it just not ever good and I didn't know better?

Even Halo Top by Wells, a BFY frozen treat, has a better product than Blue Bell does now.

The store only had blue bell pints so I figured I'd give rocky road a shot. Talk about underwhelming. It never gets creamy. It's a dense mess.

I don't remember blue bell ever being as disappointing as it is now.

How many here are still loyal to blue bell?

I started seeing Blue Bell trucks late last year. I checked at the store, and sure enough, we have Blue Bell in Mid-Missouri now. I haven't had it yet.

It's been all downhill since they stopped selling Mexican vanilla

The problem is their first ingredient. Not enough fat, way too high water content. They try to make up for it taste wise with too much sugar.
Some of the flavors are pretty good, their base just sucks.
It and Tillamook just aren't even in the same category.

It's ice cream, does it really matter if it's cane sugar or high fructose corn syrup? It's not like either is healthy. It's a sweet treat.

Blue bell has always been mediocre. They really need to make a premium offering to compete with Tillamook and HEB Creamy Creations both of which are much better (with Tillamook being far superior).

I'm not sure about ice cream, but I can definitely taste the difference with soda. Coke and Dr Pepper with cane sugar tastes better.

Absolutely can tell. Heck, we should change the name of Blue Bell Park to Creamy Creations Park.

I don't care for the combination stuff by Blue Bell or any other ice cream maker. Crap like caramel turtle cheesecake, pecan pralines 'n cream, etc. And I prefer our own homemade vanilla (from a family recipe that goes way back) to Blue Bell's homemade vanilla. This thread has made me want ice cream, so I will have to make some tomorrow!

Blue Bell is easily the best ice cream out there. Everything else is fro-yo at best.

All this talk of ice cream takes me back to old creamery on main campus days.

They have been getting too fancy and ridiculous with their crazy new varieties. Stick to a basic set of ten or so flavors everyone likes and improve the product. Sadly, I usually buy Tillamook when I want ice cream. It's far superior.

Tillamook would beat Blue Bell if you were comparing the taste of hand moisturizers. So we can say we were both right (assuming you are referring to eating hand lotions, but I will remain referring to ice cream). Win-win.

I've only recently moved to an area where HEB's are located... so I'm unfamiliar with Creamy Creations. All of my coworkers are from HEB land and when I asked them if Creamy Creations was better than Blue Bell, they all said no. FWIW.

That creaminess you equate to "lotion" is because the bulk of tillamook's base is in fact cream. Blue bell's is comprised mostly of milk by volume.

Blue bell does that to cut cost, which makes their product quite closer to iced milk or froyo than Tillamook, which is iced "cream" the way it's meant to be. Tillamook literally uses superior ingredients (cream, sugar, while blue bell uses high fructose corn syrup and milk) and not even up for debate.
