My son keeps asking me to stop and get some.
I'm sure it's kangaroo meat.
Has anybody tried them?

I've tried it, it reminded me of bison or elk.

Arby's Steak Nuggets

Appearance
As with most fast food pictures always look better than the actual product and the steak nuggets are no different. They aren't bad looking, just maybe a little darker than portrayed. They came in a small side container with no other accompaniments. They are advertised with a hickory BBQ sauce but my location did not have any I was concerned that the nuggs would be a dry and tough mess. The reality was far different.

Texture
The meat itself was of decent quality. Texture wise it was somewhere between a cheap steak and beef short rib/pot roast. It didn't fall or melt away like pot roast and was on the firmer end. If I had to guess, the meat was slow cooked till medium and then finished on a flat top to bring it top medium well.

Taste
The nuggs were surprisingly well seasoned, actually pretty packed with flavor. The smoke flavor was pretty heavy which I felt kind of detracted from the overall flavor profile. It was like they had been marinated with a large helping of liquid smoke. The thing that really stood out was the lack of saltiness. All the flavor was there but it was just missing that extra punch to tie it all together. I think having the BBQ dipping sauce would have rounded everything out nicely

Final thoughts
I only tried the nuggs on their own but they also sell a sandwich version and a bowl that is essentially mac and cheese topped with nuggs and crispy onions. I think they would have paired well with the BBQ sauce or other offerings.
