I was thinking about this a little bit yesterday.

Hypothetically, let's say you end up with a post-tax amount of around $250 million. What would you do?

Obviously I would follow the typical advice of not telling anyone and contacting a law firm with a lot of experience dealing with large estates and let them help me through the claims process. How would I even go about finding such a thing though? I guess I would have to tell somebody to get advice on who to contact? How would I know what law office or attorney to trust?

Okay so now that's squared away. How would you organize the funds and what would you do with them?

Buy an RV. See America. People can't bug you for money if they can't find you.

When I get tired of that, see Europe.

The next time I win? I'll buy stars for chiken. Seems the best way to share joy with the rest of the world.

No one in my family wants for anything ever again.

I become "take it or leave it" about everything w everyone.

10-12 acres with a BAMF house and service quarters.

Call my uncle for advice. He's a retired Certified Financial Planner. Basically, how do I find someone in Missouri that I can trust with my money?
Payoff my credit cards.
Rent a larger place.
Quit my current job. Find another job (or volunteer) that I like more that doesn't necessarily have benefits.
Invest the money conservatively. Reinvest most of the interest so that the principal continues to grow. Try living off of $20k per month to start with. Honestly, I can't imagine spending that much.
There are a couple of local non-profits that I would donate to.

I think I would set up a family trust for my siblings and 1st cousins so they would be taken care of, and also set up a charitable org to help give some of the money away to people in need.

I would probably buy a house in Park City or similar mountain location and live out there during the summers, winter in Texas. I've wanted to tour New Zealand for a while and would take my mom to Scotland (her dream vacation). Other than that I don't really see a need to buy a bunch of fancy things. I'm not a car or luxury type of guy. Would probably drive a regular pickup truck.

Would try to make it so spending doesn't exceed earnings on the money so it continues to grow.

Benny has good friends at school. I'm in Columbia, MO until he graduates (May 2027). I have issues with Columbia, but I dig Missouri. I'd likely (long-term) move to New Mexico, but I have nothing bad to say about this state.

Buy my parents a house and retire them.

Quit my job, buy my own house, invest the rest, and start travelling the world and living off the dividends.

I would also buy tickets to next Saturday's A&M at Mizzou game. I'm going to try to win them this week from a local radio station.

I tell no one. I was planning to retire at 55, instead I retire now at 51. Probably upgrade houses but not crazy. Buy a beach house in the redneck riviera. Take some nice trips. But overall, leave people thinking "he must have done well for himself" vs hassling me for $$$

I would hire a 'money manager'. His whole job would be to field calls and tell everyone no. I get to be the good guy, telling everyone how good their stupid idea is. He gets to be the jerk that says no.

Was just about to say this. But this biggest, sickest RV a couple mill could afford. Sbd and just GO. Weeks at bucket list spots. Move around based on the seasons. Summers in the Rockies and PNW. Winters in TX, Az, Florida.

Would be amazing

I would get a bigger home with a badass work shop. Anything and everything that deals with woodworking and welding.

Then I'd buy a nice trailer and drive around BCS picking up restoration projects.

I'd get one of those really awesome forge setup to melt metal.

Fun projects for me and the family and keep stuff from being thrown away. Why waste when you can repair or repurpose. Most importantly help out with being a good steward to this amazing gift God gave us.

As everyone has already said. Get a lawyer and CFP that knows how to deal with that type of money. Make sure family is set.

Invest everything and live off the growth. Travel.

Buy 10-15 acres and build a nicer house with a sweet backyard + a pool for my wife. Sell our current home. Not a fancy person so just get a new truck.

Spend most of the time traveling and hiking
