Defense ruled the day on Thursday as the Fightin' Texas Aggies frustrated No. 7 seed Saint Mary's in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Following a 63-50 win over the Gaels, the No. 10 seed Aggies have earned a Lone Star matchup with No. 2 seed Houston.

March Bucky Ball has arrived.

The underdog mentality has carried Texas A&M to the first March Madness win of the Bucky McMillan era. The Aggies were undersized and doubted, but it didn’t matter. This gritty team just finds ways to win, which is the key to winning in March.

With that said, here are my thoughts on Thursday’s win:

1. Pressure can make diamonds, or it can expose frauds. Saint Mary’s thought they were ready.

They were not ready.
