Former Boise State middle Eliza Sharp is an Aggie!

Talk about a weapon with so many tools to sharpen. In her first year playing college volleyball, Eliza Sharp was outstanding, playing in all 31 matches for the Broncos. She hit at a .323 clip with 250 kills, 140 total blocks and finished the year with 329.5 points. This all led to her being recognized as the Mountain West Freshman of the Year and has three years to develop under Morrison.

I'm curious to see how well her physicality works in the SEC, but I absolutely loved her motor in the highlights I saw of her.

I think the roster is pretty close to filled out (assuming 2 squads so that can go against each other in practice). With most of the roster having 3+ years to play, you probably have to start worrying about space for your 27 class. You can still bring in some one and done players, but they want immediate playing time and I don't really know where you can find that. Maybe L/DS since you can have 3 or 4 play in a game with the new 2 bros rule.

I might be inclined to save the spots, BUT I am certainly not the roster manager that Jamie is!

My guess is we are done taking transfers at this time. We didn't have a full team last year and might be what Jaime likes to do.

Also need to keep a spot open because you never know who might become available.

Guess if there's a stud opposite out there, we'd take long look.

Help me out.

Is there a signing window? Is it unusual that all these commits happen immediately after the season?

I was windering if this is a perceived pressure from the players that "i better commit now or I won't get a spot" or is there a "NCAA volleyball " schedule where this is the window where recruits are committing?

Were we recruiting these players all along and the NC finally swayed them, or were we "inundated" with recruits wanting to commit and we just went down the list starting with our top and said "we're shutting it down, this is the last window to commit before we're filled" ?

Good questions. In Taylor's post-season summary when he was giving the background to this team dating back to when Morrison was hired, he said something to the effect that volleyball recruiting was a two-year deal. I was wondering what that meant.

They need to be enrolled in the spring semester to go through spring practice/games. Generally that is a week or so after classes start. Before the start of classes is better.

I'm pretty sure we were recruiting these players through the playoffs. One even mentioned a campus visit, which I'm guessing didn't happen on Monday.

In football, some of the commitment announcements are coordinated and to enhance publicity. I'd guess some of the decisions were made before the final 4, but the announcements were delayed.

indeed. Almost every D1 volleyball athlete wants to be at the school for spring ball which I think is one month. Many incoming freshman finish high school in the fall. Same is true for transfers. I think fall volleyball official practices start less than 1 month before the first game so there isn't a lot of time for new players to gel.

As for the "2 year window", unlike football, when someone commits, it's pretty much set. Very few decommits or jumping to another program. Most top athletes are identified by their 15s season I'd imagine with some late bloomers. We have the #1 player in the country committed for a while but she won't even be on campus until 2027!

When Morrison was hired, there were very few girls on the roster but luckily the new transfer portal helped with that.

As a reminder, that is the deadline to enter the portal. Not a deadline to find a new spot. Someone could enter the portal Jan 5 and join another program Jan 10.

But a player probably wants to enter early to maximize options. If you wait until then end, programs have already been filling their holes.
