He tried hard but that effort was not historic. 9 hits, 5 runs, snd a walk in 6.2. Relax.
Because those additional hits should not have occurred had I been the coach. They should have pulled him much earlier. And for this...I do blame Earley and his jackass of a pitching coach. It was very obvious Freshcorn was tired at the very beginning of the 7th. Yet they rode him....even after 20+ pitches over his season record of 79.
This was the biggest mistake made by Earley.
Second, the players did not show up. Period. And Earley doesnt control that.
Gavin was taking some terrible swings. Sorrell just looked bad altogether.
In fact, Sorrell has regressed from the start of the season. I believe he should take a NIL deal and stay another year versus playing single A baseball next year. Kid doesnt improve his hitting...he ain't ever seeing MLB field but from the stadium seats. No clue why he is ranked higher than Gavin in MLB draft boards.
