3 runs last night and 1 run thru 8 innings tonight. what exactly does earley bring to this program? nothing of value that I can see. some selfish prima donnas highjack the program to get their guy in and then don't produce success on the field. Shortsighted decision that's delivering longterm damage.

That was as fine an effort you'll see and our coaches and players screwed him with their effort.

He did all he could do. The only player who did anything worth a damn (besides Bear).

I just hope nobody confuses this year as progress over last year.

I don’t say this in a braggedocious way. But it’s true. I’ve been right about everything.

Very impressive performance. That many pitches against an offense that is on fire. Might've stayed in a batter too long, but the bullpen depth made it tough

I was not a fan of Freshcorn last year. He won me over this year and I'm mad for him that an incredible effort tonight was squandered.

let's be honest...

if the USC manager does not stupidly pitch off...

the Trojans roll thru the regional in 3 games

Top 5 in the lineup went 2 for 18.
USC's pitching wasn't THAT good.

One team thrived in the moment, while the other team just folded

The # of 10 run games the offense had this year hid a lot.

He gave up 5 runs. Why is everyone acting like he's Walt Frazier?

He tried hard but that effort was not historic. 9 hits, 5 runs, snd a walk in 6.2. Relax.

Watch the game on replay today since you missed it last night.

I watched until the 8th inning. I saw a good performance from the best pitcher we have. It was not historic.

Historic? Probably not. But he gave us every chance to win that ball game and battled way past when his arm was losing effectiveness. One of the few guys who performed when it mattered most.

He had no business pitching the 7th. He was on fumes. Had another chance to pull him after first runner got on. Had another when the second got on. He had nothing left and his control was suffering. His coach left him out too long. I don't fault the player for that.

Every. Single. Time.

We do not thrive in big moments. We have bright spots here and there throughout the season. But, when it comes down to a defining moment in the biggest game of the season....we choke or just fade away. It has happened so much throughout the years that many observers expect us to choke in these situations. It's almost akin to "Clemsoning". However, they changed that narrative by winning multiple national championships. Meanwhile, we're still over here being satisfied with the "progress" of hosting a home regional that we got blown out in. Seeing this play out season after season is tiring. There has to be a breakthrough at some point, right?????

This was the problem with this team. Who would you have felt comfortable for them to pitch in that situation.

Because those additional hits should not have occurred had I been the coach. They should have pulled him much earlier. And for this...I do blame Earley and his jackass of a pitching coach. It was very obvious Freshcorn was tired at the very beginning of the 7th. Yet they rode him....even after 20+ pitches over his season record of 79.

This was the biggest mistake made by Earley.

Second, the players did not show up. Period. And Earley doesnt control that.

Gavin was taking some terrible swings. Sorrell just looked bad altogether.

In fact, Sorrell has regressed from the start of the season. I believe he should take a NIL deal and stay another year versus playing single A baseball next year. Kid doesnt improve his hitting...he ain't ever seeing MLB field but from the stadium seats. No clue why he is ranked higher than Gavin in MLB draft boards.

Thank you to Freshcorn. He pitched a hell of a game. But our coaches had no reason to believe our closer could be a starting pitcher. They kept him in too long. Shame on them.

heroic does not necessarily equal historic. freshcorn gave a heroic effort last night. earley has been a historic failure (and there is no reason to believe he won't continue to be.)
