It's not quirky when it happens fairly regularly

Which happens to every team that plays the game.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

"Fairly regularly"… we had the 3rd best record in the best conference… whatever floats your boat

I have been concerned about this team's ability to win when the chips are down. They have shown each of the last two seasons that they have the talent to beat anybody and have won numerous series against highly ranked teams - only to turn around and squander it losing to teams they shouldn't.

They are WILDLY inconsistent.

That is the "fairly regularly" that I am referring to.

18 you win
18 you lose

The other 19 games matter.

3rd Place in the SEC.
This year's team has exceeded expectations and still has a chance to win tonight and battle into the super regionals.

With the lack of pitching we have had due to injuries, did you really expect more?

However, being the first overall number one losing to a fourth seed in the first game of a Regional has only happened once in 26 years - UCLA. Despite the multiple injuries UCLA had at key positions, them losing to a number 140 RPI team is an imbroglio.

We're exactly where I expected us to be - I didnt think this team had the pitching to get out of a regional. The lack of pitching is exacerbated by injuries but the injuries are not the cause for the lack of pitching. They can meet exceed my expectations for the season by getting to a Super Regional.

My expectations for the program have been and will continue to be that that we....
Should make a regional 14 times in 15 years
Should host a regional 3 out of 4 years
Should go to a Super Regional 3 out of 5 years
Should be in Omaha 2 out of 5 years

Aren't we like 42-14 or something like that? Seems more like winning was happening fairly regularly this year than losing.

I'm sure you're only talking about last night's game.

I know most all of guys in the TAMU locker-room were disgusted and downright Pl$T0FF by the outcome of the game last night.

As Earley mentioned in the interview where he said I'll think about it for five minutes then disregard and forget about it and get on with tomorrow's game prep.

We've had these later in the season because we're playing against better teams and when our pitching isn't hitting spots, with us not getting timely hitting, you'll get a STINKER.

Whats wrong is getting ****ed over by the committe with awful teams ahead of us.

USM sucks ass couldnt even win a game at home again choked away at home regional they suck.
FSU

UCLA lol

We may lose but we got a ****ty draw with USC they shouldve been in USM instead of here, you telling me UVA is better than USC, that is some straight up bs.

Any reasonable and fair assessment of the (season ending) injuries to KEY members of the pitching staff would not conclude this team has underachieved. On the contrary, we've exceeded reasonable expectations. Every successive game is a plus. Learn to enjoy it.

I won't push back too much but I'm not sure I'd include UCLA given they run ruled us lol

So YOU say.

Mine actually increased as the season progressed; but tempered with the rash of injuries late. But it's been encouraging to observe the replacements succeed.

OMG we are in year 2. I doubt the standards will be make a regional year in and year out. I know it's not with fans. However, when you are picked as pre-season 13 in the SEC, finishing 3rd is growth following a catastrophically bad year.

Aggies are as bad with blaming injuries as they are blaming the umps for their losses. Didn't know we were the only team that experienced them. Sims wasn't even supposed to be a starter coming into the year so I think we are very fortunate we got this far. What would the season look like without him? Stewart has always been an injury problem so putting reliability on him is like betting on car with over 300K miles. McCoy is the other injury to the staff and he was questionable to be starter as well. So the fact the staff has not been good has little to do with injuries.

We keep claiming this year was a success or growth for Earley. Its not over but perhaps there should be an expectation check. Pineapple boy had us winning the SEC West and in the CWS in year 1 coming off a sub 500 season with alot of new faces. Followed up by a regional and then almost a title in 2024. Earley took the #1 ranked pre-season team and could not finish in the top 64. This year he finished where expectations should be as the #12 team in the country and with the expectation of competing in a "Super Regional" which he has not achieved yet. I do emphasize compete not make a Super Regional. Which means expectations for next year team should be host a Super and likely a trip to Omaha.

Throw in 4 losses to UCLA and 3 to NEB, and Ore 2 and Ore St,
Pretty sure we have about the same amount.

Ok, I'll play along.

Sdao has never returned to his pre-injury form. Hard to argue that's not "injury related". In fact, to do so is absurd.

Stewie missed almost the entire season, after starting out as the primary closer.

Then, with two (or three) series left in the regular season, Sims (arguably our best starter) is unable to continue to participate, contributing to our slide and seed drop.

Granted, that's only three, and not an an unusually high number compared to the norm/average perhaps, but to assert that injuries (to the pitching staff alone) had no effect on how "good" the staff has been is simply absurd.

Add the lefty we lost in the fall, the FAU pitcher that flaked as well as the Baylor picher. And wasn't David Ramirez expected to start?

I guess someone will scrub the record and prove me wrong, but I don't recall very many instances this year when the team lost two in a row.

I'm betting on a win tonight.

Off the top of my head I know we lost the double header to Auburn right and the first 2 against Geogia.

But I agree with you. Only lost on back to back days once this year. Against Georgia.

Seems like you mainly paid attention last year. This team dropped series to:

Georgia
Ole Miss
Auburn
Oklahoma

And all 4 of those teams are still playing post season baseball and none swept us.

I always thought that was a Fran quote.

Must have gotten it confused with "exhibition season is over", or "yeah we are 7-5, but we only lost by a total of 17 points" or some such other loser quote.
i'm sorry i dont laugh at the right times.
