I believe this is the 5th time. No #1 overall has ever gone 2 and Q which UCLA flirted with, but this was not unprecedented. However, I woupd bet no #1 overall has ever been booted by losing to their #4 twice

They're on the verge of staying home as well and not in a good way. Kentucky up 9-6 in the Top of the 8th.

1. Usually higher seed unless their stadium is not available or too small.
2. If seeds are equal then you send in a bid for NCAA to decide.

Several years ago I think California hosted a super regional against Dallas Baptist but they played in a minor league park because Cal's stadium did not have lights.
